I've always liked EAX though you do need a 5.1 system to get the full effect. I cant wait to see what 5.0 brings to the table.

I wonder if anyone owns A3D now and if they're going to make use of it? I prefered A3D back in the day but with no drivers or anything.....

didn't Creative suck them up? I still have my Vortex2 card, had fun in Half-Life and kicking butt in CS 1.1

creative has pretty became a complete monopoly... they've sucked up just about EVERY company... all that's really left is M-Audio (correct me if i'm wrong)... and a few smaller ones... Now if Yamaha could spit out one hell of a sound card.. man, they would wipe the floor....

M-Audio is only staying alive through their Pro-Audio cards

they've started in the consumer level, gaming supported (thru Sensaura) area too, Stick.
they make the Revolution 7.1 and 5.1 cards. Turtle Beach came out with a new line a little while ago, but I didn't hear much about those afterwards. And I think Philips is maybe half-heartedly still around. There's a couple other less popular board makers using the VIA Envy DSP's, like AudioTrak and BFG . . . I think Chaintech (the mobo maker) even resleased one card. But I don't think any of those are big sellers like the Audigy.

And damn hercules stopped making sound cards, I really wanted a digifire 7.1. Instead I grabbed an Audigy 2 ZX, it's a nice card but overall I think I would have prefered a Digifire.
