adobe audition/cool edit crash

does anyone have a problem with windows 2000 and sound blaster cards?
every time i try to load adobe audition or cool edit it crashes. I searched online and u can fix it by disabling the sound blaster wdm in the device manager but that effectively turns off ur sound! So does anyone know a work around to this? Ive done it b4 but i have no idea how i did it, and i was stupider also back then so this is sad.

yes, ive tried it with patched and non patched. Maybe ill try using the Kx drivers tomorrow instead of trying to find the work around.

I think i found the problem, does anyone know a program that will totally reinstall your aspi drivers? the dmc audio ripper wont work under aspi and adobe audition has its own fix but it says i dont need it. HELLLPP!
