My Z-680's dieing?
well i just started haveing problems with these guys a few days ago.
when im playing games, i get a slight crackle at a high pitch. only game ive really noticed it in so far is painkiller. this also happens with music, ive been listening to lacuna coil for the last few days and ive started hearing the crackleing there on the higher pitched areas. normaly i would just figure its a crap recordeing, but this stuff is 320Kbit. sounds amazing, except for that crackle im getting... also, now i just tried switching over to direct input to see if that would make a diffrence, and dirrect input is now completly dead. i cant get anything to work with it at all, theres not a single sound taht comes out of the speakers. direct input was just working about 2 days ago since i remember i had it set on 6chnl direct when i was playing doom3. yes, all plugs are plugged in and secure, and yes, audio is turned up. while listening to other music, i dont hear it so much but i think thats do to the fact that alot of my other stuff is rock, cant really hear too much distortion over that. Z-680's with 14guage monster cable and monster cable 4" opticle cable. Realtek AC-97 onboard sound rest of the system.... amd64 3200+ x800pro msi k8t neo fis2r 2x512 kingston hyper-x pc4000 480watt thermaltake |

i highly doubt the speakers are going... it's more then likely your Realtek Onboard audio controller.... really should be using a Sound Card for that kind of speaker setup... as the power it has will more then likely pick up more of the distortions that the onboard AC-97 chip spits out... try updating the drivers
