More Lame Audigy Problems

God... tired of this Audigy not workin... Well, basically, I have no sound AGAIN. It was working fine last night, turned off the computer... then woke up and used it... DIDN'T HAVE SOUND. Only thing I changed was the power switch in the back of the computer, but that shouldn't affect the sound card.

Anyways, I'm tired of this damn problem. I've already posted about it before, and I still don't have a solid answer. Usually changing it to a different PCI slot works, but now its not and I don't want to resort trying it over and over again.

Maybe I should just get an Audigy 2?

Using official Audigy 1 Platinum drivers.

try the card in another machine - the card could be dodged so you may need to upgrade… but if you have the platinum model audigy, then you lose the functionality of the audigy drive by upgrading to the a2 series (unless you fashion your own cable)

I had up to 3 Audigys at one time. Wounded up getting rid of all them. Although it sounded great for games, everything else was below my expectations and music playback just wasn't all that good. Wounded up going back to my TBSC and later, a Philips Acoustic Edge. Anyway, I almost swore off Creative, but the A2 brought me back.

Bottomline of what I'm trying to say: the A2 is completely different animal from the original Audigy, and the support has been GREAT. Don't be afraid of getting one because you've had a bad experience with either the SBLive or original Audigy.

I used to have kX Project drivers, it worked great, but Stickster said it was only for people who develop music and stuff, so it probably has worse quality than the ones I'm using now. Maybe not?

Well I been using kx on my games for long time I don't have any issue with them

they work great in doom3 and nhl2l005

KX has super good quality for Creative sound cards. But it only supports 5.1 surround, and doesn't supports EAX. It means you cann't fell cool while playing most of EAX games. But Doom3 is focused on graphic quality, the sound supports 5.1 and no EAX,THX... effect.

Well I don't use EAX anyway... no point and makes my games crash.

kX was designed for music production, but it sounds just fine in games, for movies,music etc, give it another try, if you don't use EAX then you have nothing to lose

Then Mythical can get an Audigy2 with the latest KX driver. I think it is able to be satisfied by him. If you have more bucks, I suggest you buy Creative EMU1212 soundcard, It gets pretty good sound quality for non-gamers.

1212 is pro - audio, a bit expensive for gaming and general use… the 0404 would be better value in that regard than the 1212 but still, for that price and audigy 2 zs is probably a better option for the support it has
