Audigy 2 to Z-680 Digital cable?

I just ordered some z-680s and would like to use the digital out on my sound card to hook them up. I'm guessing digital would sound better then 6 channel wouldnt it?

What cable do I need to do this? I think it has to go from the headphone type jack to coaxial. I searched and can't find this particular cable, even though i have one here thats only 1' and bad quality. Or should I just use normal 6 channel input from the green, black, orange wires?

I'm Dizzy for what you have done .
Actually you need not to buy this set of super expensive speakers . This set of speakers is very expensive, the main reason is that it can decode DTS. But Audigy 2 sound card has DTS decode by itself. You only need to buy speakers without decoder.

this 1 is agglomeration of your money

but you are not a money waster, exteral cecoder will be better than integrated 1 of sound card.

You just connect your speakers to soundcard as what all people always do.
digital out has differ output of power. There will not be any good affect for you to connect to digital out jack. But, if you have HI-FI speaker, you can connect them to SPDIF-OUT.

you will only get 6 channel digital over a single s/pdif connection IF the original stream was already encoding (ie DVD, nforce soundstorm)
stick to analogue - you won't notice much difference

thanks for the replys, few more questions, would you recommend using my audigy 2 with analog or my realtek onboard wich has optical out with these speakers? and what your saying is dont use the digital out on the audigy 2, just stick with normal analog? I understand I wont get real digital sound unless the source is encoded beforehand, ie from dvd.

and I got them for $150, the choice was between z-680 for $150 or z-3000 for $136, the choice was easy. i like these because I can buy some better speaker whire and measure out the lengths myself, instead of the normal permanent wire in most pc speakers.

also on an offtopic note, i would like to use these for xbox and such with optical sound, so would any of you know of a adapter for tv(s video) to monitor that can do resolutions of 1024x768 or higher? i saw one somewhere but cant remember.

You want your speakers are always whire- disable your on board sound card. Play all the things including mp3,hd-wmv... by using Audigy2. Realtek onboard has less powerfull than Audigy2. You use your speakers to decode when you wanna watch DTS movies only(this condition, your realtek does not process and gives signal to speakers to decode). And you don't forget one thing, Audigy2 not only decode DTS, it also decode DTS-ES. You know, you are a rich guy. You may DIY a optical out for Audigy due to disable your realtek by the thread: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/audio-general-technical-discussion/51279-creative-audigy-2-ad_ext-pin-assignment.html , or you buy a bracket of Audigy2 series to provide optical out to your speakers when you wanna play DTS movies.

ive got my z-680s hooked up with my onboard realtek ac97. sounds perfect... none of this hissin noise people talk about. i get a little white noise out of them, but tahts just from the extremely high power of the speakers. any high power unit produces a little white noise.
with 14guage monster cable and an optical cable made by monster cable, these things sound flawless.

my board has the optical on the back panel, so it didnt come with a bracket. Do you know where I could find one? searching optical bracket on ebay turned out nothing.

You can only buy sound bracket of Audigy series now. And I have no idea where your can buy the bracket in your Country, maybe you can find it on ebay. You may ask dj_stick where you can get it.

go to your local computer store and ask for the bracket… mine was manufactured by gigabyte and also had 2 audio jacks (which i used for other purposes)
you will need to de-pin the connectors though, and then reconnect them to the proper pins

OK i finally got the bracket, but what pins do I connect it to? Do I put it on 5,7,9 or 27,29,31? Also which colors go with what? I have [red (space) brown black] on the wire connected to the bracket. I'm guessing I have to use seperated wires due to the space in the wire ends.

for the AD_EXT header, you will need to use pin 1 for power, pin 9 for s/pdif out and 3,4,6,7 or 8 for ground
