Sound blaster ct4830 doesnt support 64 hardware sound?

when im using the default winxp driver on my sound blaster live ct4830 it supports 64 hardware sounds, but when i run 3dmark03 and run sound test 3 an error occurs. i tried using the updated drivers from creative website and it works fine but my card doesnt supports 64 hardware sounds anymore. i cant select sound test 3 and cant set the sound channel to 64 on battlefield 1942. ive tried using the you-pax IV and the audigy driver hack but still the problem remains.

is this card really supports 64 hardware sound or not? pls help!

when i use the winxp driver it supports 64 hardware voices, i can set the hardware channels to 64 in 1942 and i can select the sound test 3 in 3dmark03. But when i change the driver, the official and the modded it only supports 24.

Curious about this one too. So, any word on this from the driver modders out there? Would it be possible to mod the official Creative driver update (from their site) to enable 64 hardware voices for this card?

I have read somewhere (and I don't claim that this is 100% correct) that SBLive! hardware acceleration isn't very good, and that's why supposedly it's better not to check that box in games like BF1942. Supposedly, it starts "accelerating" but "spills" onto the CPU early, putting a bigger load on it. So, EA recommends "Software" and "16 voices" in BF1942 because supposedly it puts less stress on a CPU than "Hardware" and "32 voices". But if Audigy1 uses the same chip (or is it a slightly updated version?), why do they recommend enabling "Hardware Acceleration" with it in BF1942? And no, this isn't about the old problem with SBLive! before the patch came out (for BF1942 that is), they still recommend unchecking HA in their FAQ.

I would really like a word from the modders, such as Regeneration and others, on how to "hack" the official Creative drivers for SBLive! to enable 64 hardware voices, if possible. Or is it simply a registry setting?

Also, alvin, when you set it to 64 hardware voices in BF1942, does it actually play and sound fine in the game? No crashes or weird sound errors?

Thanks!

Oh ok, nevermind then.

Where did you see that SBLive! supports 64 3D accelerated channels though? None of the sites I've checked ever claimed that. Perhaps you are confusing 64 hardware voices as opposed to 32 3D accelerated channels? Because Creative makes a distinction with those, and I did find several sites listing 32 3D accelerated channels and 64 hardware voices on the same page for SBLive! specs but never once a 64 3D hardware accelerated channels claim. And what you see in BF1942 under sound options ARE 3D channels.

When i run 3dmark03 i cant select the sound test 3 which is the 64 hardware sound test, that is when im using the modded drivers or the updated official driver from creative site. but when im using the default winxp driver i can select the sound test 3 in 3dmark03.

sound is fine when i checked the 64 HA sound in Battlefield 1942 never had problems on it.

Ive tried these drivers and all of them had the same problem:

*the latest driver from creative website
*You pax VI driver
*modded audigy2 driver
