SoundBlaster Live! AUD_EXT pinout to Front Panel?

Hi guys,

I just installed a new Cooler Master case and was wondering if there was a way to connect the SBLive to the front panel outputs (Headphone/Mic) on the case... I've looked through the AUD_EXT pinout (40 pins), but still don't see a way to use those pins for this purpose.

The corresponding wires on the Cooler Master Panel are as follows:
MIC-IN
MIC-POWER
GROUND
L-OUT
L-RET
R-OUT
R-RET
GROUND

I know that hooking up the sound card to a live drive allows for a headphone/mic connection (besides all the other digital outputs), so it should be possible to figure out a way to hook this up to the front panel. So has anyone attempted this before?

Thanks,

-Parin

Yes, it is possible. Even the drive is not made by sharpshooter Creative, it can be used. Example: dj_stick has used a motherboard optical OUT module.

using the AUD_EXT this is impossible with out a DAC/ADC module… the AUD_EXT header only has digital i/o

Thanks for the info. Its too bad that most sound cards have no internal outputs for the front panels which are so prevalent these days.

the front panels are designed for motherboard onboard sound, however certain audigy 2 series cards (like mine) actually have an analogue I/O header on the card
