very low bass w/Audigy2 analog out

Greetings!

I have an Audigy2 connected to some Klipsch GMX 5.1s/ Of course, i didnt realise until it was too late they are digital only, but i found a way via a post on another forum that if you connect a G9 to RCA cable to the sub, and connect the RCAs to the audigy2 via mini plugs, you get analog 5.1 and bypass the GMX pod. You just use the keyboard/windows for volume.

Well, this works great, except the bass output is tiny. It may as well be 5.0, and i cant work out why. I tried the cable set up with my onboard realtek sound (im using an MSI Neo2 939 board) and i got bass from there ok, i get good sound from the SPDIF out when playing movies (and using the pod to get dolby surround for games etc) but its almost as though the bass is turned off on the analog socket. If i do the pink noise test in the CP, i do get sound from the sub, so theres some signal getting through on that at least.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Are all A2 cards weak on bass output? The setup would be perfect if it wasnt for this.

Thanks for your help in advance!

But is that for taking digital out from the Audigy? Thats not what i need to do, im ok with using the GMX pod for digital if i want it, but id like to use the analog outs for everyday use and thats where my problem lies.

As i said, if i take the 3 mini plugs and use them on the onboard sound (realtek 5.1/7.1) i get 5.1 with good bass, but if connect those same mini plugs to the A2 i get crappy bass. I tried playing a DVD Audio disc and that gave no bass too, and i know there is an LFE track on there. Same with regular DVDs, theres no bass to the sub, even though its setup 5.1. Even with 2.0 music from a mp3, shouldnt bass be sent to the sub, i get no bass in music either.

Its very confusing, thanks for your help so far.

After some more testing, it seems the output level from the sub out on the A2 is about 1/4 of the level of the rest of the outputs. If i just run the sub only, it works, but its quiet until you crank the volume, and then if you bring in the other speakers, the volume is way too loud and the sound is still too "bright".

for everyday use you can get surround sound with digital, due to the three coax wires in use, it will sound better than the analog outputs from the card imo

I got tired of trying to get the GMXs to work well, so returned them and picked up some Klipsch Ultra 5.1s from BestBuy for $199 on clearance
