Common Problem?

I've got a SBLive which I'm running with Win98! The problem is I can't open AudioHQ which I need for Soundfont managing. I get an error saying "Cannot initialize audio drivers, reinstall audio driver." I have tried to reinstall everything but that doesn't do me any good. I also get an error when trying to open the surround mixer. I do not have a surround system though.
I have read that a lot of people have this problem but I haven't found a solution yet.

I'm thankful for any answer!
