Default Post Creative really so bad?

Everyone is always talking about BSODs and PCI 2.1 problems...but I've never experienced that sort of thing...am I just EXTREMELY lucky and should count my blessings?

I'd be interested to know the configs that have probs with Audigy's, so I can avoid em

Honestly I never personally had a problem running Creative cards either. I think mainly it's the hokey drivers. For example the Audigy 2 drivers have a bug which under "device manager" it's displayed just as an Audigy. If buy an Audigy 2 (I am today) I want it to say Audigy 2 in the device manager.

Well there were problems with VIA chipsets, eg. i couldn't run my old Live card together with old epox motherboard, which were using a via ide controller. The latest drives did help, but i would still expirence BSOD and destroyed data :/ So i bought a TerraTec DMX fire 1024, which is one of the best buys ever

What pisses me off with Creative, is they are aware of this bug and still it was not fixed with audigy, alot of people also had problems with audigy, i don't know about audigy 2?? But hopefully they fixed it, so people don't have to use latency patches from via (they just released a new one) which makes the pc slower, because the creative card can't handle the amount of data send through the PCI interface!!

Well, since I use kX drivers, only problem is stuttering of playback (hardware - VIA chipset).
I don't like CL drivers, they maybe should work good, but they have a lot of crackling in sound in my case, so I give up EAX for sound quality.

So... hope that A2 will be better then A1.
Is A2 EMU10k2 based too?

And this VIA PCI latency thing...I'm using one of the rarer P4X266 boards from SHUTTLE no less, and have never had hitching in my games, except in UT2003 when models load, but I doubt that's a sound problem.

And Neocrosis, my Audigy displays as an Audigy Platinum in devices...neener neener neener! hehe, jk

i was once in your shoes and if you look throuh my posts at rage3d, you'll find that i asked this exact same question once over there..... now i know better .... i have now experienced the problems with bsods etc, however, i have also noticed that they happen sometimes, but not again with a reformat until several reformats later . however, i still consider myself lucky because it only happened to me twice and never again (dunny why )

And my displays as kX 10k2 Audio - Model CT0092.
I never thought that CL makes difference between Platinum and Player in device manager. Hmmm...
