old sb!live to play 5.1

hi guys,
im new here and i just want to know how can i play 5.1 ch on my old sblive. (i heard that a driver can swap the digital out with the center and subwoofer).

LOL. if you have a SBLive 5.1, you just do what BozQ says.
If you have a SBLive! 4.1, I'm able to help you to mod it to 5.1.
If you have a SBLive! 2.1, I suggest you change your card.

Leon, i don't think there is such thing as an SBLive 2.1 (or a 4.1 for that matter, its 4.0

)

for the live 4.0 systems (original and value cards) you will need to change the internal ID aswell as connect via SPDIF a second soundcard

Yes, I agree with you. I know 4.1 Value edit only has 4 channel without a singel chaneel for woofer. And, after we modded that SBLive Value, it became to 5.0 only.

no it will be 5.1

with 4.0 speakers there is no discrete subwoofer connection, the speaker's built in crossover gets the bass end

where as in a 5.1, there is a discrete bass channel

4.1 speaker gets woof from other 4 channels. I think this's not real .1

exactly, but if a 4.0 card is modded, you get 2 extra channels, one for center, one for low-end, so it is 5.1, not 5.0

I think I get it, we could have 6 chennels through adding one more DAC.

ok thanks for your knowledge guys, i figure out, its a 4.1 and i want to convert (mod) it to 5.1 - i have power dvd 5 and i want have sensations watching my favorites dvds
