How to install new Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA apps on Audigy 2 ZS ?

Hi there,

The latest Audigy 2 ZS for notebooks (PCMCIA) is provided with a CD full of brand new drivers and applications that are common to the whole range of Creative products. Best proof of that assumption is that the autoplay and the installer are labelled as Audigy 2 no mention specific to the PCMCIA product. The CD comes with MediaSource 3.xx as well as drivers version 5.12.02.1048 (or something like that). Those new drivers as well as the MediaSource 3.xx install fine on a system with a desktop Audigy 2 ZS.

Good but the new applications, series 3.xx like SurroundMixer, THX, EAX console and the like refused to install themselves

Argh ! The common setup ends up saying that no compatible product can be found. If I try to manually run the setup of each component (EQ, CTCon ,etc) the setup always fails stating an error -6300 occured (grrrr

). So once again Creative locked the global setup while drivers present on the CD support the Audigy 2 ZS (for desktop PC). I tried the mod suggested in this forum to install Audigy 2 ZS drivers on Audigy 1/2 cards but to no avail

I'm pretty sure there's some trick to install the latest set of Creative applications/control panels on my desktop system with a Audigy 2 ZS.

-> But what trick ? Is there any workaround ?

don't bother
you will get very little difference in functionality

the apps that cannot be installed are most likely tailored to the PCMCIA card's extreme differences from the PCI versions, ie the switch between analog/digital in/out

As I said previously I have no problem sharing the files, but actually apart MediaSource 3.xx and the latest drivers the other 300MB of the CD are pretty useless because the setup is unfortunately locked to a specific sound card model

imo, if it were not locked to that card, and you installed on a PCI card, i could imagine a large amount of issues caused by this

It is able to be used on Audigy2 series cards. CnBeta.com's leader, admin_guo has been using this software for several months. Actually both MediaSource 3.xx and MediaSource 2.xx can be installed together in that two apps won't clash each other and work fine.

But it is very difficult to be hacked, and admin_guo

does not want to share his software pack with us. I hope you can share this software pack to me

Don't think so because the install, the drivers present on the CD are branded as Audigy 2 series. No reference to PCMCIA or whatever. Even the WDM on the CD work like a charm with the A2ZS.

I think it's no problemo with the CD. Only those headlines presents as A2, but the software is A2 Notebook.
