logitech z-5300 impressions
well i bought the system after much comtemplation
well i owned the inspire 5300 for 3 yrs and if i was to review this system here would be my conclusion: i cannot feel my legs and feel nauseous after all the bass and clean sound i would DEFINITELY do a review of a this system for DH but it is not something new, absolutely stunning value only 199.99 CDN, i haven't had the pleasure of trying the z-5500 or gigaworks though. now i will get the flaming and opposition of digital systems posted under me, not interested in it thanks! |

![]() Logitech does make pretty good value systems... though I haven't really heard value systems from any of the other multimedia speaker manufacturers, I usually stick to higher quality sound. |

my old system had it, and so im using it to connect the speakers to card with the gold plated wires opposed to the usual silver type ones they included |

I'm guessing you mean copper instead of aluminum wires. In theory you can get better quality sound with lower guage copper wire, but with those speakers, you probably won't hear a difference.
If you have both types of wires, go ahead and use the copper ones, I just wouldn't recommend going out and buying copper wire to replace the stock wire. |

gold plated pins - mostly jsut a gimmick, and will wear out after a while, but it does increase the life of the connector by a few years at least. You might aswell keep using the gold plated connectors until the cables themsevles degrade.
the only time the gold plated connectors will give a noticeably better quality is when the standard-type jacks start to corrode (gold is mostly non-reactive and will not corrode)

Actually, both copper and silver are better conductors than gold. Gold is useful as a conductor because it won't tarnish or oxidize as easily as other metals.
Changing my Klispch Ultra speakers from 20 (may have been 18) guage aluminum stock wire to 16 guage copper wire, I could barely hear a difference, and only on certain types of music. It might even be a placebo effect, but doing a blind listening taste where you have to switch wires for 6 speakers isn't very handy. Unless you have really poor quality wire to start, changing to higher quality wire won't really make a difference unless you have a good home-theatre system. (i.e. one better than the top of the line multimedia speakers, at least) |

i got the 5300 speakers about 6 months ago and they were $150us, they are the best bang for your buck out there imo. The sound quality is great and the bass if you want it to can anger the neighbors with ease. I recommend these to all my friends looking to get a 5.1 setup.

Zelig, what we are referrign to is the actual jacks themselves. the silver coloured ones are neither silver nor copper. Its copper for the wire yes, but i think the jacks are a nickel plated metal
