Logitech z-5300e vs z-5500

For those of you that have heard both speaker systems, is the z-5500 worth the extra 135 bucks? Now, I don't listen to speakers very loud, and don't turn the bass up that high, for I live with other people. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

If you never plan on turning them up loud, probably not.

If you don't need the digital decoding, both the Creative and Klipsch (if you live in NA) solutions are better than the Z-5500 anyhow.

i have the Logitech z-5300e but have not heard the 5500....and these are great performing speakers.....if you don't intend on using them at a decent soud level...then i don't see the point of paying more for the 55oo'2.

Just to bump the old thread...

What's the sound quality like compare the two speaker sets? Are both the sets using the Tang Band speakers... or only the Z5500 using the Tang Band speakers?

I couldn't seem to find the review for Z5300e yet....

They both use Tang Band drivers, AFAIK.

I haven't heard the Z-5300 much, but here are my thoughs, for what they're worth.

The sound quality's pretty similar for the satelites, which are the weakest part of the Z-5500 system anyhow. The Z-5300 just isn't quite as loud at high volumes.

The sub on the Z-5500 has quite a bit more punch, it sound much better than the subs from their previous lines. (Z-680, Z-560) The sub on the Z-5300 sounds decent, but is both looser and not as loud at high volumes.

Thanks for that...I have Audigy2ZS that will do the decoding for me so that I think the decoder from Z5500 it is not very necessarily. I merely looking at the sound quality from both the satellites (Most important factor to me).
