Midi Controller Problem

reposted this cos i think i put it in the wrong thread

Hiya, I am at my wits end with this midi controller. It's supposed to be a plug and play (plug and pray as i call them) and windows XP just wont recognise it. I downloaded the latest drivers from their website, it tells you to unplug it from pc, run exe, then replug usb to finish driver installation. I plug it in, and am forced to reboot for it recognises that ive installed new drivers. I go thorugh the windows driver installation process, and after its finished, i get the USB "noise" that a usb device has been REMOVED rather in plugged IN, which leads me to believe that windows didnt find the oxygen8 in the first place, and only found the new drivers that the EXE gave.

I really do not know what to do, its worked in the past, but since a reformat a few months ago, tis not working

System Specs

Do you have Service Pack 1 or 2 installed? Did you install motherboard chipset drivers?

For most USB devices, you have to install the drivers that came with it BEFORE you plug your device in. If at any time the windows Add new Hardware box comes up, CANCEL it and follow the setup of the drivers that came with your Oxygen8.

So, uninstall all oxygen drivers completely and start from scratch, this time using the manufacturer's setup, cancelling window's stupid wizard window, and dont plug the device in before you've installed the software!

See if that works

I've had the same problem with my oxygen8 too. Contacted M Audio but because it's 5 months over warranty it would cost £75, (yes £75-that's 90% of the original price for it new!) just to have it looked at by cimplesolutions, the 3rd-party company M Audio uses to carry out repairs. Don't think it's an OS problem, some M Audio hardware is just a bit dodgy, I would recommend not buying from them. I've tried fresh installs, downloading drivers etc.-nothing seems to work. If any1s got any other suggestions of the 'open it up stick a screwdriver in' sort I'm listening.
