No i didnt need to do that .. I already had 1.2 installed before hand as i jumped the gun abit on the first post in the thread thinking they were the new ones . I uninstalled all of that though before proceding with thew new pax 2005 drivers. After uninstalling i reset and windows did its thing of saying new hardware detected and braught up the window asking for a driver. I canceld that , deleted the remains of the creative folder in Programe Files , used regcleaner to delete allthe creative regkeys and then ran the pax 2005 installer.

one the installer is run you get a few options. its here where i select all the ones related to audigy2/zs, not the one related to notebook/platinum. and the next option i chose full package including updates. After that you get a list of updates, but this is where a pause is needed and not to click on untill the creative installer has popped up and done its stuff. say no when asked to restart, then continue with pax installer to apply the updates. then restart system .. that should be all there is too it. Incidently windows now sees the card as an Audigy2 ZS as apposed to the normal Audigy2.

I got it working now!

Ok, I know Pax has put alot of hard work into this, but I think the installer is broken for alot of people. The creative pop window would not come up with any of the options, and even if I chose option 2 with the drivers, it would fail to pop up the creative installer. Then when it went to install the drivers it would lockup my system.

This is how I resolved the problem, I think this will work for others.

1: Removed all audigy apps, and reg keys and folders.
2: Download and install the Pax 1.2 New Year drivers, then reboot.
3: On reboot launch the new package.
4: Choose option 3, package only
5: Wait for creative to pop up, and DO NOT CLICK NEXT ON THE PAX SECTION.
6: Follow the creative prompts and let it install
7: Now click next on the PAX section, and let it update.
8: Click finish then reboot.

Results below, oh and the sound is amazing.

I know the bug!
bug is that, "NEXT" botton comes out faster than selection bottons!!! Once you click "NEXT", instllation is deleting your installation files!!! So, please DO NOT click "Next" quickly and please wait for a while.
Thank Gamergod very much!

Edit:
Thank evolve1 who explained for me.

ok, im getting further, but i have a question to gamergod, shouldnt the sound be the same as the new years 1.2 standalone if u install the 1.2s then the audigy x pack? I'm trying to get the newest driver to install.

Another question for everyone

the first pop up screen where theres two options

audigy/audigy 2

audigy 2 zs notebook/audigy x (hardmod a2>a2zs)

which one should i choose? i have a audigy 2, i want to softmod it, should it be two?

Im trial N error'n now

Choose " audigy/audigy 2" if your sound card is Audigy or Audigy2 (not Audigy2 ZS etc).
that hardmod means you have already hardmod your Audigy2 to be Audigy2 ZS and does not mean that it will hardmod your sound card.

Do these drivers improve sound quality and improve RMAA performance?

Choose Audigy/ Audigy 2 as Classic said. AFAIK ( Classic can correct me on this maybe?) the 1.2 drivers that you dowload seperately are the same ones contained within the New Year Full package.

No problem I did wait a very long time for the pop up to appear, but nothing. The creative process Demo32.exe is in the taskmanager, but nothing happens. The only way I could install was the way I posted.

ok i got it to work as well, whoooooohoooooooooo

the sound is a lot better, and louder, so heed the warning of turning down ur speakers

what i have: Audigy 2 PLAIN

1. Removed, creative software, 1.2 pax drivers (via the installer), folders, reg entries

2. restarted, started audigy x 2005 installer, chose the "audigy/audigy 2" (NOTE: i think this is where it gets confusing, i selected the 2nd a bunch of times because the "hardmod" scrambled with the unknown characters fooled me into thinking it meant softmod a2>zs, anyways..."

3. Chose the first option, the pack and the 5.12s since i had the 1.2s before

4. the software screen pops up first, then the creative installer, like gamergod says, DO NOT press next on the non creative screen. PRESS Next on the creative screen and keep the audigy 2 and the mediasource selected, go thru the installation, until the creative pop up finally closes. (should end with a registration thing, annoying i know)

5. THEN, press next on the remaining software screen to update the software u just installed. It should install flawlessly. Restart

6. Enjoy, modify the startup stuff so the bloatware doesnt pop up lol

Ben

EDIT:

nevermind, remove the CtCtrlPan.cpl from the system32, then restart

Could someone with an Audigy 2 ZS please post RMAA results with these drivers at 48kHz 16 bit? I think that if they're as good as I think they will be then this will become the most sought after card ever. I'd certainly recommend it.

Would the sound quality of analog outs of a modded Audigy 2 ZS with these drivers be better for movie playback than an nforce2 Soundstorm when using Dolby Digital encoding out?

Thanks

Just An Installer Delay/Bug

OK Ladies and Gents, boys and girls:

I finally got the NewYear 2005 Pack installed as well as others. Seems it was a matter of not clicking on the next button when the Update window appears during the installation process. Before reinstalling, I deleted everything that was installed (I think), used Driver Cleaner Pro, went into the registry and deleted all the Cteative entries I found, and, then, installed just the apps in option 3, then, I realized that if we have to wait for the splash screen, and that will solve the problem, maybe that's what the unsuccessful installation of the apps problem is. So, I reatarted the PC and used option 2. I have all pertinent apps (for the Audigy) installed, working, and showing in my start menu.

For me, the solution to install this package successfully is:
When the update window appears, dont click the next button on it!!!!!! Move that window out of the way, and wait for the Creative splash screen (it may take 2 minutes or a while), and also wait for another window to pop up. This other window that pops up is the window you use to install the apps. It seems that all that goes on before this window pops up is just unpacking of the installation files. When this window pops up, with a black guy showing, click the next button on that window, then dont select restart until you install the updates on the window I said move out of the way, and until you install the drivers from a window that will pop up after you use the update window ( that is, a driver install window will pop up if you are installing option two).
I'm happy cause I have the NewYearv1.2 new drivers with the ASIO driver installed.

But there is still an unknown Device in the Device Manager Sound, Video, and Game Controllers section.

Thanks YouP and classic leon and the whole team responsible for getting these releases out to us, and thanks for the timeliness in doing so as well.

Me and my Audigy are happy champers. Time to go game now.
But hey classic leon, you tell YouP, get his butt moving on improving the installer. LOL just kidding. But, that would be nice. hehe

Cya all around.

Edit:
After susscessfully installing the NewYear 2005 pack, I went to device manager and updated the driver for this unknown device, and it installed as Creative soundfont Synth. It was an unknown device before the Newyear 2005 pack was installed successfully. What I had to do to get this pack to install sucessfully is written above in this same post.

Well, ()))FPPfan))>:

Two differences I think I see between me and you is that I'm using an Audigy and running Windows XP. Youre using an Audigy 2 ZS and running Windows 2000. Also, I installed everything except the Mediasource update and that Entertainment Center update from this pack, even though I read that the Audigy wont be able to use the DTS decoding feature. I did get an error message that something called Media couldnt be installed, and that there is some kind of error in the installer. This may have someting to do with why I have an unknown device. Who knows? But at least me and one other person noticed this unknown device after installing this pack (though I dont know what soundcard he has). Anyway, we're just reporting this observation.

Hey All:

The unknown device named Media was Creative Soundfont synth. I went to Device Manager, after I successfully installed the software with the NewYear 2005 pack, and I selected update driver for the unknown device, and it installed as Creative Soundfont synth. I was getting the error message "Media cant be installed because of and installer error," but that was before I tried to install by not clicking on the update window when it first appears in the installation process.

classic leon: does this mean that Audigy users can use Creative DVD-AUDIO player but only with DTS playback, or does it mean we can use it with just Dolby Digital Playback?

Or what does it mean.

i have problem when using your installer to install the software+drivers. i got hard lockup upon loading windows. somehow, i have a fix for it. when double clicking on the package, choose install and then you'll see a folder in drive C as NewYear2005. from then i stop the installation immediately. after that, i open the NewYear2005 folder in drive C and then into CTRun and double click on start.exe. i let it install and after reboot, everything works fine. anyway, thanks for the mod!!!

DVD-Audio doesn't use DTS or Dolby Digital... I'm guessing it means that it won't use DTS decoding for movies.

Question for somebody:

Where do I find the Creative DVD-AUDIO player? I didnt install the Mediasource update from this pack. Is that why I dont see the Creative DVD-AUDIO player. Is it installed by installing the Mediasource update with this package? I thought it would just launch when I put in a DVD, but it didnt, only WinDVD launched, even though I unselected auto play DVD on the WinDVD options of right clicking the WinDVD icon in the taskbar.

Hi, anyone understands the part about Audigy X Platinum having problem shutting down? Is Audigy X a special audigy? I own a Audigy2 Platinum and after I installed everything, with the Entertainment Center, I am unable to shut down. It takes a long time to close all programs and after that it kinda just freezes at the blue shutting down screen. Also, I've been seeing things about there being installed a "Creative Soundfont Synth" in the device manager with newyear drivers 1.2 but I don't have such a device installed. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I've been seeing things about there being installed a "Creative Soundfont Synth" in the device manager with newyear drivers 1.2 but I don't have such a device installed. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Dont know what to say about the Platinum deal, but nothing will read Creative Soundfont Synth in device manager. The Soundfont Bank Manager is what the Creative Soundfont Synth is. It's just when I 1st unsuccesfully installed this pack, there was an unknown device in Device Manager under the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers section. Then, when I successfully installed this pack, I updated the driver for that unknown device, and it installed as Creative Soundfont Synth (yet it doesnt read as such in the Device Manager). To know if you have it installed, just open Creative Soundfont Bank Manager cause that's the same thing. If you can open it, you have it installed OK.

cypher_138 is on a distinguished road

There does seem to be a bug of sorts like I stated in a previous post. I have an Audigy 2ZS.
If I install the package and do the creative than the PAX update it, teh following occurs:
- Windows error message during the creative installer after teh driver is completed.
- PAX update seems to delete the folder it creates in root.
- System hangs on reboot during the terminate signal and remains on the desktop.

If I install the the package and do the creative install, reboot than rerun the program selcting no drivers to install, exit Creative and update PAX it seems to work.

Other than the error box during the Cteative everything checks out in device manager and the error log.
Am I alone in this one?
