5.1 Speaker on Audigy with Audigy 2 driver...

Guys...

I am using Audigy 2 driver on audigy 1, I set to 5.1 speakers but i can't get anything from rear speaker in general purpose, I tried WinDVD & PowerDVD, if I play 5.1ch DVD with 5.1 Speakers set, I can hear from all spekaers. But in general purpose like Windows Media Player or Winamp playing anything I can still hear from 2 rear speakers.........Anyone can give me some positive suggestions please? Thanks!

Go under your EAX Console and to CMSS 3D and turn it on.

You should have "simulated" 5.1 now.

it wasn't like this on audigy 1 drivers

i'm having the same problem with the audigy 2 drivers on my audigy 1. i get all the speakers used in the sound tests and whatnot but in mp3's and everything i get only front speakers.

with the old a1 drivers CMSS wasn't needed or enabled by default, and DirectSOUND worked on all 4 speakers if you had it set to 5.1 or 4.1 in the sound control panel.

i've been looking for a fix for this for days now. there has to be a way to get all the speakers without using CMSS faked 5.1 surround sound.

i have a 5.1 sound system but using the centre speaker destroys the STEREO field that music uses. i want my 4 L/R speakers being used like they used to. ANY IDEAS?

thanks fellas

do you know if it is an Audigy1+Audigy2 driver problem or it performs that way on audigy2 card too?

aparently what I didn't know is that this is not a bug in the drivers its a "Feature" creative removed the 'Stereo x 2' because aparently it was buggy and didn't reproduce sound right or something, i havn't found an actual quote as to why.

this "feature" is in all the new drivers that just came out recently for A2.

so .. there we go i guess...

i still want stereo surround without using the centre speaker though and CMSS isn't giving me that. music is made to be Left/Right (stereo) not left/centre/right .

For example, kX has Wave 0/1 which is Routed to Both Front and Both Rear speakers (4 of them w/o subwoofer) - that way WinMM apps sound very good).
