smasha is on a distinguished road

A silly question that bugs me

Sorry to fill the forum with a silly question but what do the suffixes (a400) and (ff40) mean?

My card used to be an (a400 )card for a long while -now I deleted loads of registry junk concerning my aud 2 plat ex and when installing the brand new pax drivers 3.89,my card has now turned into an audigy 2 (ff40)

BTW-I loved the 1.2 youp pax drivers that softmodded my card to an audigy 2 zx -sound was excellent but as soon as I touched the volume control on the breakout box,I got BSODS.

The new 3.89 drivers haven't crashed once but don't seem to sound as good.

They sound incredible for games though.

My old game warhorse UT sounds fantastic.
