dual concurrent sound?

heres the setup ive been thinking about..

use my expansion soundcard to play sound from a game or whatever and then use my onboard sound concurrently to play sound from windows media player.. i was thinking about being able to use my dual monitor display to have one playing a movie on wmp and having headphones to listen to the audio on that and the other monitor playing a game and have a separate set of headphones with the sound from that...

any help in achieving this would be greatly appreciated

hey first why do you want to play from your onboard? it would be kind of shitty and i think it might not work because to use a sound card you need to disable the onboard sound i think?

and what are the specs of your computer? do u think your computer can handle a dual monitor setup?

because my onboard sound (nforce soundstorm) is better than my expansion soundcard

ive just managed to route all default sounds to my soundstorm and rerouted wmp sound to my expansion card. right now im capable of gaming on one monitor with speakers and have a movie going on the second monitor with sound in a headphone. only problem i seem to have is if i try to go full screen in games wmp doesnt seem to like it and loses video overlay but window mode gaming works fine.. would love any suggestions on a fix for that

this setup is bloody awesome. i can have guests over and they can watch some movies or whatever and i can continue to do whatever else i want

pc specs:
amd athlon xp 2500-m
asus a7n8x-e deluxe
ati radeon 9600
1gb corsair ddr400

i have soundstorm, an audigy es and an audigy 2 zs all working together with a dual monitor setup
