Just did that. Installed them over top of the PAX-NewYear package with no problems. So far so good. Everything is clearer and louder, especially in games.

Edit: Forgit to mention this is on an Audigy ES.

Extract the driver .exe with WinRAR, somewhere in this file structure you should be able to find various .exe files; one of them is control panel...

Hmm. Any way of getting the Audigy4 equalizer installed with this driver? I extracted the youp 2005 set which has it, but cant install. Any suggestions?

edit: ahh just saw the post above. Yes, i miss it too. Why cant they give us what is possible to do, and why are they hindering things like this? I have been happy and patient for now (and for years buying creative soundcards), but seeing that things are possible to implement, and Creative JUST DONT DO IT. That seriously pisses me off.

The beta drivers are straight from Creative. Thus your A2 is an A2 now, not modded to A2 ZS. So it's not about it not working, coz it just can't. We'll just have to wait for the modded drivers.

It seems the same driver is now avalable for Audigy4 Pro. Maybe this one can be modded so that we can use the equalizer again?

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro Beta driver with OpenAL support SBA4-BETAD-1-US

This beta driver adds full support of the OpenAL interface for Sound Blaster® Audigy® 4 Pro audio devices.

Added Features or Enhancements:

Provides full OpenAL / EAX ADVANCED HD support when used with the DOOM 3™ 3 1.3 patch.
Includes EAX 4.0 support for the new DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil™ expansion pack.
Improves performance of all OpenAL game titles, including Battlefield 2™.
Requirements:

Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro audio device
Notes:

THIS IS AN UNSUPPORTED BETA DRIVER. We recommend that only experienced users install this driver.
Make sure you uninstall your existing Audigy 4 Pro driver before installing this beta driver.
Do not install this driver for an external USB Sound Blaster audio device.
Some Creative applications such as Surround Mixer, THX Console, and Creative MediaSource™ may not work properly with this beta driver.
Refer to the Readme file for more information.

I dont know about the A1 or A2, but all of the apps (including the EQ) from the YouP PAX new year package work perfectly on my A2ZS when I installed these beta drivers straight over the top of the PAX drivers. To me, the great sound quality increase I got from going from official creative drivers to PAX drivers has now been lost again since I put the new beta drivers on. The PAX drivers definitely done something to make the sound quality so much better than any creative official driver ive used.

i am testing them for now and the first impressions are :

no so much memory usage
but also very low mid-sound ...
so the complete sound is pretty high

going to test a bit more

-----------------------

reinstalled the previous drivers ( 5.12.05.522 )
now the sound is much more round ( everythings is in harmony high-mid and bass )
i noticed that the memory-usage is the same like before with the new drivers
so far

moroga
p.s. i hope creative will change the point with the mid-sound in the final version

Some drivers were released on creatives site on May 12, a month after the betas, but the betas are labled version 2_05_0000, but the ones released on May 12 are labled 1_84_55-R1.

If I wanted to stay on the bleeding edge of driver technology, which one should I download?

The 1_84_55-R1 are just repackaged ones from last year, so its just hot air
The betas are the latest for now. So dont worry, if you have the latest ( 5.12.31.1100 dated 2005/03/28) then you are in business.

Well, Creative still hasn't been able to write a drivers that are moron-proof for idiots who don't know how to do basic troubleshooting with their systems
