Sometimes loosing settings in Creative mixer software?

I've been having this annoying little problem with both the 5th april beta and the latest standard driver package for my Audigy2(ZS). Once in a while a single setting will just goes back to default, like the left/right balance, the bass boost tab, or the THX calibration tab. I'm curious if others has the same experience and whether anyone has found any way to make it better.

I'm also dreaming about an altogether new mixer software for the reason that Creatives mixers all back to the early days of the Live series has never been able to hold most of their positions exactly where you left them, but tend to jump a percentage or two the next time you look. While that's probably just a graphical glitch of the interface it angers me that they can't even get the simplest things right. Given the timespan it's kinda obvious that they don't even care.

I might move over to the kX drivers in the future, but not right now.

I had this problem with the PAX YouP New Year package and the new PAX v4.00 drivers. I turn of Stereo surround, and every time I restart the PC, it turn on automatically. I just decided to stay with the kX drivers. I found also that the audio quality sounds so much better for my Audigy using kX too.

So, unless there is a game that only plays right with EAX, I'll stick with the kX drivers.

There is an update for the THX controls that were perticularly buggy, but that's all I've seen from creatives side. That "Creative Audio Control Panel" seems a good thing and I'll keep using it for those settings.

Now I'm primarily looking for some software that works pretty much as the system volume mixer (sndvol32) but with a better interface, like with numbers and stuff. So that I could quit using the surround mixer. I'll keep looking for one as that's something that there ought to be some alternatives for out there, but any tips would still be appreciated. If I find anything worthwile I'll report it too.
