SlasherKG is on a distinguished road

Hey all, I have a question. I've been here on and off for a while, but I am a bit confused. I have a SoundBlaster Live! card and wish to get the most out of it. I originally have had the New Year 2005 pack installed, but I see now that this new set of software is out. Is it compatible with my card? I believe so from the first post on this thread. If it is, which drivers should I install? right now I'm thinking the YouP-PAX-VIv2.2 is what I need. If not, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

On another topic, I just want to be sure I'm getting the best option. I recently had to replace my motherboard with a AOPEN A79G-VN which has onboard nForce2 audio with Realtek AC'97 CODEC. From what I've found this board doesn't have the SoundStorm features because it is a slightly lower model. (No SPDIF out and only the Red Blue and Green ports). Although it can support surround sound modes by using the additional blue and red ports with the nvmixer software. I just was wondering if my old trusty SoundBlaster Live! was still better than this?

the a4 software is compatible with your card if the new year 2005 pack did. only the modded a4 driver isn't compatible to the live! (tested it). you have to use the youp pax v 2.2.

Thanks! I greatly appreciate you responding.

So does this also mean you feel my Creative card is better than the onboard nForce?

SlasherKG,

Yes, unless you've got Soundstorm digital out. An optimized SBLive card is quality stuff! Onboard analog is not. Try the setup and see how it sounds for your taste in music, movies, and gaming. It's only the best way if it sounds best to you.

i don't know if the onboard sound is better, but an optimized live is a dream! i got an older board (asus p4p800) with ac97 sound and it is terrible. i don't know how much they have improved the ac97 chip the last few years, just have a try

Ok, thanks everyone for their thoughts on this. I've done some comparing and it seems that the SBLive is still a bit better quality wise. I can't fully test yet as I can't download the Audigy 4 ISO yet, (no server up right now). I'll probably end up keeping it though.

EDIT: Anyone have the link for the torrent? That site listed here doesn't seem to work.

I just installed A4 1.2 drivers. Calibrator still gives me the blue screen but I get almost no ticks and click while playing a 96/24 6 channel DVD-A content. Great job!

Yes. This link is originally Classic_leon's but i've reposted it because it' hard to find.

And the BSOD still occurs with the newest drivers. I hope there will be a fix for this. I'm not complainig, but this is an error which hopefully can be solved once.

To Classic Leon,
Sorry I have posted again my question and maybe a little bug ?

Here is part of my last posting...
{
My soundblaster is Audigy 2 Platinum. I've installed the Audigy 4 Iso, patch for Audigy 4, and also 've downloaded the official patch for Audigy 4 Creative.
But still got the problem with the Creative Entertainment Center, somehow she doesn't recognize the DVD/CDs/VCD or any media that I've inserted into my DVDROM.
First I've a suspicious mind on the settings of my WinXP autoplay, because I've installed Microsoft's Tweak UI. But after I removed the settings, still got no solution at all.
}

Does anybody have the same problem with me ? Or any solution you could give ?
Thanks in advance.

My Specs:
Albatron KX400-8XV, Athlon XP Palomino 1800+, Seagate Barracuda 40GBytes, Sony DVD-ROM, Asus DVD +/- R/W, 2 Visipro DDR 2100 128MBytes + 1 MCPRO DDR 2700 256MBytes, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum, Compex Ethernet Card 10/100, PixelView PlayTV-HD, One floppy drive, Speaker Creative Inspire 5700, Windows XP Sp2 Pro+patches+Direct X 9.0c, Generic Local Casing and PSU

First of all, thanks for this very good driver package. I'm using an Audigy2 and the sound is much better with your Audigy4 Mod driver. But I have still a problem. Is it right, that the device manager is showing me an Audigy2 instead an Audigy4 with the modded drivers?

Also the sound is great, but in World of Warcraft I get fatal errors after using your PAX driver (Version 1.00 works better than 1.01, but still crashes). With driver 1.01 CS Source also have fatal errors. After using version 1.00 all is fine, but WoW still crashes. I get an error: Memory could not be "read" (with the original drivers I get no errors).

Did anyone have an idea to fix this problem, because this drivers are much better than the original. Please help me or fix the drivers!

I have almost the same problem with you, not in the WoW but in the false detection of my Audigy 1 after I've installed the A4 mod driver. My temporary solutions ,
1. Uninstall the driver with the same installer driver.
2. Remove all the Creative Tech Registry with regedit.exe
3. Delete emu10k1.inf if you find any of it in C:\WINDOWS\INF
4. Delete the Creative folder inside C:\Program Files
5. Reinstall the driver again, sometimes I tried with the different drivers.
6. Sometimes it works, sometimes doesn't.

Anybody can help us? I've a temporary prediction, that the configuration of the PC has been used for a very long term and a sometimes in a very rough condition (just like mine ) So maybe there are some subtle problems with the Windows or anything else including all kind of softwares, any kind of settings/tweaks that too wide to be mentioned one by one. Sometimes I wondered whether Re-installing the windows could cure the problems?
Could anybody give us another better clue ?

Thanks in advance...
Sorry to BIG_DEADy, for this interruption. I hope somebody can help us Bro...
That's this forum stands for...

I know it's time to reformat (it's not a bug - it's a feature *lol*). But next time I want to test WinXP64. Are the Pax modded drivers compatible to XP64?

Are there an tool to completly remove all creative registry entries and files?

Somehow I wondered for my solutions... Aha.... maybe you're right. Coz all of our PCs have their unique problems based on every tweak, setting, configuration, software installations etc... By reformatting... it could give us a new fresh restart... Eventhough I must admit... It's a little complicated at the finishing touch. Coz I'm too lazy for that .

Sorry just adding something in OOT mode, hope you don't mind.
