Can't I get more than 24 audio channels??

I have an M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 soundcard and I use Logic Platinum 5.5. My problem is that I can't get more than 24 audio channels. I've tried to increase the number of channels in the "ASIO section" under the Audio Driver2 tab in the Audio & hardware preferences, but that doesn't seem to change anything (I've restarted Logic, but still there are only 24 channels to choose from when I create a new audio track in the arrange window). I don't know if my soundcard can handle more channels, but 24 seems a little too few!! Anyone how can help me?

i'll take a look at lap 5.5.1 when i get home tonight and see what i can do to help
