SPDIF recording on Audigy 2 Platinum--only 1 channel?

My first post...

I have an Audigy 2 platinum on a Win XP Pro box. I am trying to record from MD to PC via SPDIF (TOSlink optical cable). I can hear everything fine, but when I fire up the recording software (the creative stuff or audiograbber) I cannot record it. Have tried to record SPDIF in or "what u hear" but neither works. Yes I have played around with all the settings. I can record to the PC with the RCA analog cable just fine but want to do it optically (preserve track marks, principle) as this is why I paid extra for the optical in equipped card.

The best case I have had so far after resetting creative to defaults is 1 channel of SPDIF. If I record it it works but it only plays back out of 1 speaker.

If I use the diagnostic tool in the creative software it fixes the mixer setting, but this mutes the SPDIF in.

I have looked for something relevant on here & elsewhere on the web to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Could SCMS have anything to do with this?

Still no solution...am working on reinstalling all Creative software & drivers.

Someone? Anyone?

System Specs

if the drivers support it, try a direct recording mode
