loud pop when i turn the computer off from the speakers?!

yeah...every time i turn the computer off, the speakers make this REALLY loud pop sound. I suspect that it is bad for the speakers, but more importantly it FREAKS everyone in the area out. Even my neighbors feel the thump from the subwoofer. Its crazy.

Anyway it doesnt happen when I'm using onboard audio, but DOES happen when I'm using the soundcard(which i prefer anyway. Better FPS in games) so does anyone know what the deal with this is?

oh yeah I'm using a LIVE 5.1 soundcard with standard creative drivers(since nothing else installs)

The Live soundscards simply does not mute the output when the system is turned off. Time to upgrade to a ZS maybe.

Speaking of thumps, I got a veritable musket shot when I pulled out the DIN connector from my Logitech THX woofer. From then on I tighten the screws.

power off the amp/speakers before turning off the computer. This IS always a good practice to have with audio equipment.

Yep, turn the speakers off before the PC. That's what I always do.

I HAVE noticed that on-board audio tends not to have this problem. Add-in sound cards almost ALWAYS do.

hyakki is on a distinguished road

or if your stereo has a easy access mute option a quick mute should work fine too

Here what I do ever couple months I'd unplug the woofer base plug from my speakers from the wall plug. That helps get rid of the static that builds up over time. Matter effect I should do it tonight

My bro says it's just that Creative doesn't properly filter their outputs to eliminate the "thump". He's knows about such things since he used to work fixing stereo equipment for many years.....I guess that means he knows anyway.
