Audigy 1 recommended drivers
I haven't seen a thread regarding the Audigy 1 and drivers for it recently so let's see what you think.
I've been using hacked Audigy 2 ZS drivers and software up till now without any problems. Obviously they are a big step up from the horrible Audigy 1 software. Now I've upgraded some hardware and reinstalled XP and am now pondering the question of sound drivers. Which drivers are recommended currently for mostly gaming? Good EAX HD support would be very good, as well as 5.1 capability as I am running a 5.1 system. It looks like I have three options: - stay with Audigy 2 ZS drivers - YouP Pax drivers (have had no experience with them) - Audigy 4 drivers (haven't used these either yet) Thanks in advance |

Samir, he's looking for good EAX performance, so unfortunately that rules out kX
probably the audigy 4 hack might work better for you

I went ahead and used the YouP-PAX-A4v1.02 drivers and then installed the applications off the Audigy4Pro-YpoauxP CD. It seems that my card is not using the Pax drivers. It shows up as "Creative SB Audigy" in the device manager. In the creative surround mixer it's listed as "SB Audigy [DC00]".
Also, there is no SBAudigy4 folder in "Program Files\Creative". It's just called SBAudigy. I was expecting there to be some reference to the Audigy4 or the Pax drivers somewhere. The only thing I have found is under Sounds and Audio Devices, there is a PAX logo next to the "SB Audigy Audio [DC00]". The driver version is listed as 5.12.2.445 from 24.09.2004. Is this normal behaviour from an Audigy 1 with these drivers? I followed Sovietdoc's guide. |

I believe it is normal behaviour for the A1 to not be detected as A4 as I've seen it before being reported on these forums. My A2zs was detected as an A4 from the modded A4 drivers though. There might be a difference from the original Audigy and the A2zs. Don't know what the drivers reports on a vanilla A2.
