Alright this is dumb problem but its a problem. I gots the Audigy with the external drive (not the platinum but the external one). Audigy card to which the drive is hooked up has only 3 speaker connectors on the back, firewire and a drive connector to the external drive. Those 3 speaker ports are L/R front, L/R rear and the center speaker ports. No microphone connector. The external drive has a "line 1 in/ Mic" connector which is the pretty much my default recording source (i have my mic plugged into it). I set my recording source to Line 1/Mic in windows and i can record my voice. If i set it to the microphone it wont work because this audigy has no microphone port. As soon as i start any app that uses mic, say Counter-Strike Source for example, it switches the default recording source from Line1/Mic to "microphone" therefore nobody can gear me speak in the game, because audigy has no mic port. So the point of this long boring and confusing question/story is: How do I stop windows/apps from reseting my default recording source from Line1/Mic to Microphone?

afaik there's no way to stop that, unless you can force overide the windows mixer
