Sound Adjustment programs

ok i was not sure how to title this but let me explain...

i think i finally found a way to get my sound card to work (for a good period of time atleast) but if anyone finds a way to fix this blasted squeal of death i would be extremely grateful...

as for right now tho, one of the troubles in getting this stupid thing to work is the fact i can no longer use the mixer that came with the drivers pack... for somereason if i install just it, it says something is wrong with drivers and i need to reinstall them (i forget exact error) and if i install the drivers through the setup like it was intended, they don't work. they only work if i do it through device manager and update driver, then point it directly to the .inf file. (btw i finally got the .244 version i think it is working, its the very first one compaq released to try and fix creatives big blunder... but for some reason i can only seem to get that version to work. :/ )

Anyway i got a bit off topic so to reiterate, i am looking for a sound tweak program or whatever you wanna call it that will let me adjust bass and treble and has anyother useful features to make it sound better.
