Hyperthreading or Sound Quality

Hey All: I have a 3 or 4 year old SB Audigy (SB 0090) card that has been

flawless with satisfactory sound Quality installed in my third Computer.
I have always used the software that came with it. If I update the software
from creative's site the sound Quality is CRAP to say the least, so I always
go back to the original drivers.
Now I have a new computer with a Hyperthreading CPU with my Audigy card
I can't use the original drivers as the system keeps crashing. The updated drivers
address this issue but I have, again, the sound quality problem (TERRIBLE)
I have the original drivers installed, now, and have the Hyperthreading feature
dissabled.
Everything works well now accept the Computer hasn't the responce that I paid
for.
I realize that this card is old now but the sound is great with the speakers that I use.
Has anyone had this problem? And does anyone have an idea?

Oh Yeah.....I 'm using XP SP-2

Thumbs Up! Hyperthreading Or Sound Quality

Hey All: Thanks to DJ_stick and primetime for the suggestions. I read the instructions by
Sovietdoc and downloaded the necessary components needed to install the new
drivers and software.I removed everything "Creative" from my system with the
Driver Cleaner and proceeded to install the modded software.
When I tried to install the PAXA4v1.02 software it stopped right in the middle of the
installation and sat there doing nothing until i decided to reboot or grow old waiting.
After retracing my steps and removing what had installed, i decided to redownload
the PAX software.
I found an alternate source to the one I had used the first time and I believe they
were called the PAX New Years special beta.
After installing everything , and without replacing any files as per instructions,
my sound has never been so clear and robust through my Altec-Lansing 5.1 system.
After enjoying the new sound for a while I decided it was time to enable my CPU's
Hyperthreading feature. So far my computer has crashed once during game play
but I'm hoping it was just XP being "pissy"
Thanx again and I'll keep you posted on any issues I might have with this Mod.

If you're having the issue still I have a very stupid question. Did you upgrade to a HT enabled processor in this system w/o formatting?

Hey necrosis: Thanx for your concern, and it may not be a stupid question at all, but NO.
I seem to have the issue resloved for now accept I realized

after my last post that I Installed modded Audigy 2 software instead

of Audigy 4 software. . I have installed A-4 software on another

drive and it works great, with HT enabled.

Actually I don't notice any difference in the sound quality between

drives so I'm leaving it as is for now. Thanx Again

the creative drivers are better for audigy 4 really slightly, but i feel like creative purposely enjoys abandoning or limiting options and updates for older cards. its really lame.

the audigy line will be dead by the end of this year.... why? because of x-fi. idiots
