Who's going X-Fi?

I was browsing around, and came across these two links from Warp2Search.

So who's getting one? I'm thinking about it but would like a "real" audiophile to get a hold of it first. Personally the version I would like is the "Music" version, just wish it also came /w the 64 meg on board.

I shall..... espesh with the new VOIP effects implimeted into the hardware. Apparently you can communicate via Mic when under a bridge and it will actually echo your voice!

i wont be among the first to buy it, maybe after some months or so if the price on a bulk is about 50-60 $ and if it really brings something better to games like bf2 even if i hate the bloatware

Ditto, I'm skeptical of most of the soundcard reviews I read on the web, due to factual errors, horrid speaker choices, or other such problems.

I'd rather save my money for a video card in a year. This Audigy 2 ZS with YouP Pax drivers is already awesome.

i am pretty sure i will, but i am pretty sure xi-fi will be on my next system. need that boost in sound quality. the feature that 16bit audio will be upgraded to 24bit is good. but most likely this feature will be something that will require creatives gay mediasource to use which is not neccessary just because creative will not show other developers how to use it.

so really we wont benefit from that, but there should be performance increases and i hope to see a huge change in drivers

DTS? i thought even the a2zs had dts decoding… do you mean encoding?

that is possible with the current audigy hardware, hell it's even possible on the sb Live! - all CL have to do is program the EAX engine

ill probably get it when it drops to around 100$ LOL or 150$ because i just purchased a audigy 2 ZS a couple of months ago and its doing great for me :-) so no need to upgrade just yet :-D

Somehow I think Creative will launch the card the way it always did in the past for a new line of sound cards. The first to hit the shelves will be high end with external box and stuff like the Platinum EX versions, and it'll take many meny months before the bare cards hit the shelves. And an even longer time for value versions or bulk versions. I guess it'll take around a year for prices to drop to about $100USD.

X-Fi is useless, yes we need more reviews but still. All the people need now is some card from creative that will do Dolby Digital Live as well as 144 dB SNR. No need for ghetto emulating crap.

If they came out with a PCI-e version, I would've been the first to get it to clear up space for a better cooling system for my video card. But for now, it will wait.

AFAIK there's not been any indication that it will be a PCI-E card in the future. Not that CL has indicated the opposite either.

I'm going to buy the Elite Pro version as soon as they are released in europe. And it looks like it will take a while yet. Creative will probably have it on preorder on its website next week. They don't know when it will ship though.
