EAX Lag

Hello,

First post here, but anyways my question.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and I've initiated my EAX 3 option in game before and wow, it sounds like my ears have gone to heaven. However, I get lag that can sometimes almost make the game unplayable like I've gone to hell. Without the EAX enable, my fps is through the roof. I thought it was my machine, even though it's pretty decent. P4 2.53ghz, 1 gig 333mhz ram, Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb, but then my friend who has AMD FX-53, 2 gigs of dual channel ram and an uber puter also gets lag when he enables EAX. So I thought everyone got this lag b/c of some error, but I've been googling all day and reading a lot of forums and there seem to be people out there who DON'T get lag with EAX and hearing the difference between the EAX enabled and not enabled motivates me to find out how I can have it, but still play without lag.

So is there anyway to have the great sounds of EAX without the lag? I hope so because once I've been to EAX, I really don't want to go back.

You updated your audigy drivers?

Yeah, put on the EAX4 patch and newest driver update.

Wich game lag the most .. i got myself a lot of problem with BF2 on my SoundBlaster 5.1 ... when playing on onboard audio everything is correct .

I'm in a competitive clan for Call of Duty: United Offensive, hence my dilemma. I can hear people ahead of time and own them with EAX on, but if I have to get in a firefight, I die sometime due to practically freezing. Then if I don't have EAX enabled, people sneak up on me all the time and I never hear them, but if I get in a firefight I can usually win. But if I could have both the great hearing and the non-lag, that would own.
