Mine doesn't work

Audigy 1 Xgamer. Model on box says SB0090X.

Win 98se.

I tried exactly like the original post...no go.

They seem to go thru the install, but always come back as the 283's

Any ideas ?

About speakers problems

Hello dudes. Yesterday I adchieved to make work the rear speakers!!! I will explain my entire process if it can help to someone. Remember, that's the way that worked for me.

As audigy 1 gamer owner, I had installed my updated cd from "station drivers" and november official web update (252). My WinXP english SP1 installation was a week ago, fair clean system.

1. Uninstalled web update, so I was without sound after restarting.
2. Uninstalled all creative cd, and restarted.
3. Erased the \program files\creative folder.
4. Extracted audigy 2 cd (sb_install_multilang.rar) to a folder
5. Then applied the ctcomp.exe patch to the correct folder and started earlier.bat.
6. Started installation CD with ..\ctrun\start.exe
7. Installed all apps except by creative mediasource (never have seen mediasource but I thing that I will don't use it) and restart.
8. Installed apps updates for: EAX console, Speaker settings, and restart.
9. Extracted new .323 drivers to a clean folder, and applied the ctcomp.exe patch to the correct folder and started earlier.bat.
10. Started installation of them with setup.exe and restart.

All steps were checked and verified. All the creative programs run perfectly with zero problems, except DVD-audio player that not run at all. Now the important part to solve my rear speakers problems (I have creative 5300 5.1). Note that normally before I can hear all speakers in all diagnostics and tests from creative, but I can only hear rear speakers in winamp and similars activating CMSS 3D option. Note that with any effect added is impossible for me do that, so disable all audio effects first.

1. Speaker/Headphone selection: 5.1 and marked the synchronize with control panel option, restarted again. I think that if you can't open speakers settings for do that, do in windows control panel.
2. Open Eax console and surround mixer for test the speakers moving the balance/fade dot around, and winamp playing anything.
3. Disable all audio effects if you had enabled anything (othertwise doesn't work!).
4. Enable CMSS 3D, in CMSS 2 mode. Now you have sound in all speakers, but you don't like this effect, so...
5. Click on default button.
6. Now you will have CMSS 3D disabled (verified that the central speaker is not sounding as is normal in this scheme for winamp) but rear speakers are sounding perfectly! You can move the dot in balance/fade panel to test.

I hope It can help to someone! Sorry guys, for my bad english, is not my native language.

Well after some testing on my Audigy 1 Platinum
I have learned something new about these apps
& drivers. If you have a Soundcard with a livedrive
or as I do part of my platinum drive some features don't
work without creative Mediasource.

1. no remote capability
2. no optical output for minidisc center
3. possibly more that I have not found

After i installed Mediasource those features returned.

Hi everyone, I just learned about this update yesterday, while on vacation, so I havent had the chance to test it yet.

What I'd really like to know is if anybody can confirm or deny that ASIO 2.0 works with these new drivers on Audigy 1 in programs like Cubase, etc.

Also, are the new settings in the 'what u hear' mixer channel also available on the Audigy 1 with these drivers?

I don't really want/need all the other features, but these two are really important for me.

Cheers and Happy Holidays,

ripper

Hi there!

I have installed the audigy 2 driver cd on my audigy 1 platinum ex under WinXP / SP1. Everything is working fine!!!
My brother tried it also (SB Live! 1024) but can not get the apps to work. So it would be better installing this compaq driver/apps thing (~130 MB, I think) and then apply the 11 MB Audigy 2-driver-only-pack, right?

Can you post the link to the 11 MB Audigy 2 Driver pack, please? Can not find it!

thx
Chris

Any improvements over the 'normal' Audigy drivers?? I'm still using the official VXD drivers for Win98SE. (Most people use WDM drivers for w2k/xp nowadays.)

Stick with VXD - they are made way better than WDMs.

Does anyone knows what the differents is between the SB0090 and SB0092 (seems I've got a SB0092)

Well, I have never heard of SB0092, but I have CT0092... maybe a typo in list?

Wink Hmm...

I've downloaded these drivers and newest Application and tried it with my SoundBlaster Live! 5.1.

Everything is working except EAX Control Panel, Speaker Settings and Speakers Calibrator.

Anyone got the same problems?

Thanks @ DVDKingdom!

In addition the I've only front-speaker-sound when I'm listening to the TV-Card... I think, that I reinstall the old (=common) Compaq 252 Live!Ware with 323 drivers... If they don't work the option "roll back drivers" should be the right one...

Merry Christmas @ all!

Here is my experience with all this...

Card: SB Live! Player 5.1 (hosted by a kt133 mobo)
OS: Windows XP Pro SP1

Very latest Audigy 2 drivers install with no quibbles if you use the data\*.dat files from the audigy 2 cd hacked pack from necro-wotsit.

Funtionality: Using app versions from the compaq package.

-Device controls appear in audiohq.
-Apps all funtion normally
-Sound functions normally.
-These drivers resolve the directsound failure that occured when trying to run a dsound app/game using RunAs an Administrator through a user account.
-It is still impossible to record normally through the analog inputs with digital output only enabled without some fidling with eax presets.
-Creative ASIO driver is present and accessible, but will not actually operate, claiming no compatible soundcards are installed.

Functionality: With new apps.

-AudioHQ functions work, new ac3 decode options present.
-Soundfont control panel is missing from AudioHQ.
-EAX Console, speaker setup/calibration, diagnose, and restore defaults crash the system.
-SFBManager works, but is odd in my opinion. It does add the option to switch between static and dynamic soundfont caching.
-Surround mixer skin looks terrible.

Solution: Use audiohq, surround mixer from compaq package, install sfbmanager and new wavestudio from new package. For fun.

Shit... The 323 and the 283 drivers don't work with the common SoundBlaster Live! Software. Can anyone give me a little help how I can make the Audigy2 Software fully functional (see a few posts above)? Thank you...

Sure. First off, you need to have the new drivers in their drivers folder with the ctzap program present. I created these by taking the drivers folder from necrothingies pack, and copying the same folder from the updated driver from creative asia over them (overwriting any duplicate files). This way you get an up to date driver that'll work.

Then I recommend the compaq driver pack for apps, esp. as they come with individual setup programs. (workaround if you have a package without individual setup progs: copy setup folder somewhere else, then dump entire dir of the component you need on top, overwriting files, and run setup. repeat. rinse.)

Dont install anything yet though. First, completely nuke any current creative stuff. Uninstall apps and current drivers, restart, then delete creative tech reg entry, and creative new drivers you made to inste program file folder. Then run the ctzap app from thall new drivers (you can also use ctzap to nuke previous drivers). Make sure you restart to complete driver install. (If readreg hangs on you, you probably fused the wrong older driver with the new audigy2 ones. Make sure you use the ones from necroguy's pack.)

Then check sound works (use win mixer to modify settings if req.). If it does, great. If not, ensure nukage of old drivers, and try again. Maybe install then uninstall KX driver for fun (could help, who knows). Then install the cl apps you need. Audiohq, surround mixer and maybe wavestudio is usually plenty. You shouldn't have to restart here either. They should just work.

With this method, surround mixer wont appear in audiohq. For this, you may need to run the proper setup program in the setup dir. Unfortunately, this will sometimes install drivers by default. If you really need this, look at what I've told you so far, and figure out what you need to do. Logic....is the key. Personally, I only start audiohq if i need to test midi with the keyboard app, or alter the eax preset..

If this doesnt work, oh well. Try just randomly deleting files until it does. Kicking your harddrive sometimes helps, or maybe threatening to snap off the cd/dvd tray. Remember, they will avoid water at all costs.

One little problem

I got the drivers to work and they work alright, but I think I´ll test the kX drivers instead.

The thing is that I cant get the surrond speakers to work properly, I got sound thru them when doing all the tests but not when playing games, Winamp and other mediaplayers.

Anyone know what I have to do??
