Using Audigy2 Updates on Audigy and Live!

Yes, you need to apply http://members.aol.com/dvdking2001/Pub/ctcomp.exe - to the SB_INSTALL\Audio\Setup - have you done this step (I don't know since you said nothing about it).

so, i have patch the files. i have step by step the instructions from dj.forest. after the installation i can't open anything programs from creative. but i think i have the solution. i am german and my os is german (must i download the file from http://www.nix.ru/download_from_ftp_ext.html?id=12970 ?????) thx and bye bye

grrrrrrr...

the CD i made works to install everything, (audigy2 323drv plus apps from multilang.rar, on 98se with audigy1 card) ....

but maybe something is missing in steps i listed. poss copying some files into common folder .... Will try and recreate & repost, if anyone wants.

I updated my audigy with A2 drivers from this pack to the latest drivers for A2 from the creatives site. Once again no problems. perfect sound!

I D/L'd this update from Creative Asia, but I get a msg that needed files don't exist. I guess this won't install either b/c I have an Audigy 1, or the Audigy2install CD (multilang.rar) didn't include this app?

...just wanted to confirm this...

I think this DVD-A is only for Audigy2... I haven't installed it too. You can live without it

Hmm...only some audio effects work through all 4 speakers? Environment effects work, Advanced EQ only outputs through front speakers and a few of the other options. Anybody know of a way to fix this?

Have you enabled CMSS in EAX console?

1. Speaker/Headphone selection: 5.1 and marked the synchronize with control panel option, restarted again. I think that if you can't open speakers settings for do that, do in windows control panel.
2. Open Eax console and surround mixer for test the speakers moving the balance/fade dot around, and winamp playing anything.
3. Disable all audio effects if you had enabled anything (othertwise doesn't work!).
4. Enable CMSS 3D, in CMSS 2 mode. Now you have sound in all speakers, but you don't like this effect, so...
5. Click on default button.
6. Now you will have CMSS 3D disabled (verified that the central speaker is not sounding as is normal in this scheme for winamp) but rear speakers are sounding perfectly! You can move the dot in balance/fade panel to test.

This method isn't working for me with the newest 324 drivers on my audigy 1 card. I'm absolutely sure i've followed the directions properly but for some reason its not working. I have all those apps installed properly. I have the newest Surround Mixer, Eax Console and Speaker Settings components open and this method isn't giving me that "stereox2" effect that the Audigy 1 drivers had.. Any ideas as to why this isn't working for me? Running windows xp sp1.

This method doesn't work sometimes.
Then only way is to enable CMSS and not disable it anymore (I think).
You will get sound to all your speakers then.

Heh, you can always use kX (like I do, of course)

Or you can try to use foobar2000 (I think it can have make stereo to a 4 speaker output with a very simple plugin that doesn't work with kX so I can't say how good it is

what is the registry setting for 4 speaker mode in these drivers. I have installed the sb_install_multilang.rar drivers and now I only have 2 speakers. The surroundMixer works, but the Speaker Settings just gives this error "Unable to locate SpkSet.crl". Also when starting the EAX console the h/d goes fore a few seconds and the mouse pointer briefly turns to busy but thats all, No eax preference program loads. This is on a SBLive! Value.

Update :- I now get BSOD when trying to start the EAX console/settings, But the surround mixer still works OK

EAX Console and some other apps SHOULDN'T be installed on Live (check FAQ for more info).
Check the FAQ question about .CRL errors. Soulution is there

everytime I try to run the EAX-Console I get to see an Explorer-window... (C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\*username*)

Any idea what's that meant to be?

Or is there a special trick when installing the EAX-console? Btw, I'm running WinxP Pro German.

just wanna say ' thank you' to the person who made sb augidy 2 driver cd available for download and the crews in driverheaven for creating the faq/install guide..

i've successfully installed the .283 drivers on my sblive value and i gotta say that the .283 is way better than the old drivers that i was using..

i am thinking of update to the .323 driver and was wondering what kinda improvement does the .323 drivers offer over the .283 driver?

Isn't there somewhere a "What's new"-list on the Creative site? I think so... anyway, I think there's a good amount of bugfixes and some added features. I'm using the new .324 on my SB Live! 5.1 myself, and it works just fine

does the driver(.323) provide better game peformance(more fps), better sound quality over the(.283) driver or stability?

First of all thanks to this site for the info up on Live to Audigy ecc.

I have an SBLive Live 5.1 and i'm using the Audigu 2 full package with the 324 drivers and everything works great.

The prob is that the EAX console doesn' work with SBLive.

A tip to control the EAX effects with a Live, is to install from the SBLiveDrvPack ONLY the surround Mixer. . . It works perfexctly and what you change is synchronised with the Audigy 2 Mixer & speaker settings!

Oh, i hope that someone hacks the EAX console to make it work with Live cause the old mixer is to lousy within the Audigy2 application's appearance.

actually, if you install audiohq, you get eax panel which allows you to adjust eax settings.. you might wanna give it a try..

i was playing ut2003 today and i'm getting stutter noises with .283, .323 or .324 drivers(i tried running the game 3 times with 3 different drivers).. is there any patches that fix the stuter noise?

I have a prob: The 324s work great on my SBLive5.1 but the Windows startup sound is always distorted. . .
I tried changing the sound but still. . . What could cause this???

Hmmm... one user already reported this issue with Live! card...
I have no idea what could cause it (I had it once with my Audigy - not driver dependant).
Are you using software cooling (VCool, CPUIdle or smthg)?

Audigy2 drivers are newer. Any you can use Audigy2 apps with them.
Those drivers for Live! are .252 (same that were published by Compaq in 8/2002).
You can always disable startup sound

1. I don't think that's possible becuase of hardware limitation - EMU10k2 used on Audigy and Audigy2 has more effects processing power than EMU10k1 used on Live!. I guess that for that reason EAX Console detects if chip is 10k1 or 10k2 and doesn't run on 10k1. Even if I can make it run on 10k1, I think that most of effects wouldn't work (lack of DSP resources).
