Missing Decoder Tab in Audigy AudioHQ->Device Controls?

hello. i have an Audigy ES card. from what i've read, it falls under the regular Audigy 1 series even though it actually has the 10k2 chip in it. but for the following problem involving Dolby Digital decoding, the Audigy 1 is supposed to be capable of that feature, regardless.

my problem is that if i go to AudioHQ->Device Controls, i see only two tabs, "Sampling Rate" and "Options". i hear that there should also be a "Decoder" tab, and that is what i want access to. in fact, if i click the Help button in the Device Controls window, the help actually mentions the Decoder tab and 5.1 and Dolby Digital settings and all that stuff. nonetheless, i see no such tab.

i've searched the web and this forum a little bit and have found that others have had this problem, too, but i have not seen anyone give a solid explanation or solution. some just say that it is because the drivers that the manufacturer of the computer suck. well, because of that, i downloaded the entire Audigy driver/software suite (there are no Audigy ES drivers on the Creative site, it being OEM and all), but i get the same results. most are just baffled that a tab would just not show up. that would be me. baffled.

in hopes of finding the tab, i have also tried the YouP PAX drivers (A2-ZS-PAX.exe) that let you install Audigy 2 ZS drivers onto various lesser Creative cards. installation seemed to go without a hitch, but alas, still not Decoder tab. i used the calibration thing to adjust my 5.1 speakers, though. was pretty cool how the sound went round and round as the little arrow went round and round the guy sitting in the middle of the speakers.

i've been thinking of trying the kX drivers, but web searching seems to indicate that the kX AC-3 decoding is still a bit crackly and snappy, and if AC-3 decoding is the main thing i want out of my sound card, not sure if the kX drivers would be for me.

so anyone know of an explanation or a solution to the missing Decoder tab?

now no Decoder Tab in Audio Console

ok, so the solution to my above problem was to in install YouP-PAX-A4v1.02.exe, et voila, the Decoder Tab appeared in the Audio Console.

but now there is a new Youp-PAX driver, version 2.31, and i hear it addresses an issue that is key to me, which is better and more reliable AC3 decoding. but when i install the newest version, once again the Decoder Tab in the Audio Console disappears. i go back to v1.02, it reappears.

what's going on? what is the core reason for the tab being there or not being there?

System Specs

fyi all audigy cards use the 10k2 chip, it is the live series that use the 10k1
