"Well basically just finished reading the review of the X-Fi card from creative, got to say I am most impressed, instantly i decided that i will wait for the next round line of X-Fi cards since it doesn't support pci-e, even so I do not have a mother board that supports pci my system is was pretty strong at the time pci-e was introduced to the market so I decided I'll wait a bit probably will switch to the new generation of mobo's in a couple of months maybe even later want get the new line of Intel chips.

any how to get to my question I currently carry the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro now I have noticed that in the last few years i kept upgrading my sound cards (always creative, since birth ) along with my other system components to the latest and the newest but I have totally forgot the most important part for the music and sound that I am so in love with, the speakers (actually was busy spending all my money on building my dream audio system for my car) anyhow I am stuck with the Cambridge soundworks DTT3500 Digital for a good few years now and even so they are digital and served me well I believe it is time for me to part way from this system and past on the my sis' so I am thinking about what way should I got with on the speaker side I mean I want creative and I want the biggest and the loudest there is obviously (don't we all? ) so I was thinking about the GigaWorks S750 7.1 THX set but i am not sure about them for 3 reasons:

1. I saw creative is marketing a new Gigaworks set (5.1) that dose look allot better you can see we are talking about a different year of making, are creative about to come out with a new gigaworks 7.1 and I'll get screwed?

2. as I sayd the 7.1 are pretty old will they do enough justice with the new X-Fi soundcard's line and the one's that will follow? speakers is not something that I like to switch on a regular basis, like graphic card etc, I do not want to get stuck with something that in half a year will not support new sound technology

3. again as I sayd in 2. will the set handle all the great things that the X-Fi promises to bring upon us

As always thanks a lot for everyone who will answer me and sorry for my English

The S750 are great speakers, the only other multimedia speakers that match them are the Klipsch Ultras I'm pretty sure. You want to link up the 5.1 set for us?

The X-Fi seems overhyped to me, but I'm an audio purist...

Thanks for your replay, the question is shuld I get them or shuld I wait for an updated version of them the might come out to public soon if at all thats the problem they do not come in cheap so buying them and understanding in a month time that you could have bughat the line dosent sound very fun to me.

You want that 5.1? hehe I sure people will make fun of them they are pretty old....

I've heard rumors that Creative is going to develop speakers with the new X-Fi technology in them, but how long until they are released, I have no clue.

I am pretty sure the S750 (which I also have now) will work just splendid with the new X-Fi cards.

From the stuff owners on OCF said about the X-Fi, its supposedly a really good card. Suppose to be leaps and bounds better than the Audigy 2 in actual sound quality. I consider myself an audio enthusiast, and the X-Fi will probably be my next soundcard.

You have just hit the spot! what would be the diffrence betwin the S750 and a set that will have X-Fi build into it, I am trying to understand, if the X-Fi will work with a speaker set that dosent support X-Fi and if so what will be the diffrence to a set that support it it seems to me that all you need for X-Fi is jsut the soundcard or am I getting this all wrong and the X-Fi is jsut like THX or EAX that you need speakers to have this technologies build into them you know I mean?

The difference would possibly be that the new speakers have X-Fi CMSS-3D and maybe the crystalizer incorporated into them (like the CMSS upmix option we have today on the S750). Apart from the obvious difference in terms of power, number of speakers etc etc.

You will not be required to have new speakers if you buy the X-Fi soundcard. In fact, if they incorporate X-Fi technology in new speakers it might even be excessive if you have an X-Fi soundcard. I wouldn't hesitate buying the S750 now because they will do good for a long time yet. BUT, it might of course be a sensible thing to wait until we even know what Creative and Cambridge are developing and the specs of those products.
