How to make your Audigy Drivers into X-Fi Drivers
First i would thank Talus from TotalBattlefield2 http://www.totalbf2.com/
This is simple: Simply download the drivers from here: http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP Then use WinRAR or WinZip to decompress the contents of the file to a directory on your hard drive. e.g. c:\temp\X-Fi Drivers Right-click on My Computer and select 'Manage'. In the left pane of the window the comes up, select 'Device Manager'. Scroll down on the right to 'Sound, video and game Controllers'. Look for the entry for your card. e.g. Creative SB Audigy Right-click the entry and select 'Update Driver...' Check off 'No, not this time', and hit 'Next'. Check off 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)', and hit 'Next'. Check 'Don't Search.I will choose the driver to install', and hit 'Next'. Hit 'Have Disk...' Click 'Browse', and browse to this subfolder where you decompressed the file earlier: e.g. C:\temp\X-Fi Drivers\SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_07_0003\Drivers\wdm Then click 'Open' and the rest should install by itself. Reboot when the computer asks you to.

X-Fi has a completely new architecture (it doesn't use the 10kx chip anymore) - It's not very clever to install drivers that are written for your soundcard

It should be pointed out that this driver set includes brand new Audigy 1 and Audigy 2 drivers.
In my haste I failed to find another simple way of installing the drivers: -go to the \Drivers\support\i386 subdirectory of the driver archive -run ctzapxx.exe |

Simply run that program instead of doing all of those steps through Device Manager.
I like doing things the complicated way, but some people don't

This method does in fact work. Just installed the X-Fi Plat. WinXP drivers on my
old Audigy 1 Platinum, and it's working great. Not sure about any performance improvements thus far. I am wondering if Creative is finally trying to get some sort of unified driver package put together, and if this X-Fi package actually contained new drivers for the older cards.... |

Yeah... so I did this on my Audigy2... drivers updated to 5.12.2.1143... Now my EAX console is broke. Is there any solution for this? Did I do something horribly wrong? Or should I just stick with my Audigy2 ZS drivers, and not try to mess with something I don't understand?
Thanks :P |

Ive managed to install the new driver too but ive also lost the EAX console and occasionaly the graphics equalizer. Im not to fussed but it'd be nice if someone finds a solution to post it. Anyone know how to remove all creative software bar the driver as it doesnt appear in add/remove programs.

I've got it down now I think. With my Audigy2 Platinum, I use the Audigy2 ZS drivers first, then update them with the XFi drivers, then install the Audio Console. Works great so far. Just wondering... is there really a difference in sound quality/performance, etc. when installing the Xfi drivers, or is it just psychlogical? If there is... what makes them better? Thanks again!!! |

So far I didn't notice any imporvement at all over the A4 modded drivers from YouP. One thing worth mentioning is that I have never experienced any problems in BF2 at all (stuttering and the like), so I went back to the A4 drivers.

Well I did the driver update and I too lost my EQ.the sound was much clearer and louder with the X-Fi's but I would rather have full control of my card so I am back to standard ZS drivers

CMSS sounds different
The 3D upmixes are redifined, well thats to my perspective. CMSS1 sounds worse because of the weaker bass. CMSS2 was amplified with better bass and room acoustics, and stereo surround is just duplication. EAX3 and EAX4 sound slightly better and all the modded A4 apps do not work.

Ok, why dont you all be clear here?
What did y'all do to get the X-FI drivers to work? Did you install PAX modded Audigy 4 Applications and driver, then install the X-FI Xtreme drivers via Device Manager driver update (or what?), then install the new Creative Console for the Audigy? What exactly did you do to get the X-FI drivers and Audigy 4 modded apps (I assume) to work for you? Can anybody direct us through this?

Widkidone:
The 1st post explains how to update from Device Manager, but it doesnt clarify what driver you are updating nor what applications are already installed. With all the modded applications and drivers that can be used with the Audigy/Audigy2, Audigy 2 ZS, and so forth, it is unclear what apps and drivers are to be updated and work suucessfully. Some have indicated that Audigy 4 apps dont work after updating with this X-Fi driver. Also, the X-FI chip is different than the 10Kx chips used in the Audigy and Audigy 2 sound cards. And because of that, some are unsure if updating an Audigy with the X-Fi drivers would work. So, I think it's a good idea to have a more informative post of how to use the X-FI driver with an Audigy sound card. As it is, the 1st post doesnt mention some things as a person using modded apps and drivers. And I just think compehensive information and instructions will lesson the amount of questions by members viewing this thread and comprehensive information and instructions will give us a clearer idea of what to expect, since some of us are using modded apps and drivers.

I tried both 1143 and 1161.. and all i did was run the setup.exe (got the drivers from station-drivers.com). My card is a Audigy 2 Value.
Driver installs fine! These drivers infs do contain support for almost every soundcard... and people, plz! dont think that by manually updating your driver you get the x-fi driver to run your audigy 2 card.. all you get is an updated driver for your card.

New Audio Console ?
Guys, could you tell me where I can find that new audio console ?
1) Currently I install PAX A4 Audigy mod in my Audigy 2 Plat, and overwriting the PAX A4 1.02 driver with the driver from the link in 1st thread. The result is so subtle, the difference between A4 mod and this new 'radical' mod (sorry for the word, but I love somepart of the new sound itself somehow). I believe that the A4 mod is focusing on vocal incarnation but this new driver is focusing on environmental incarnation.I've tested on music concert videos, video clips and movies ! The sound in video clips a little bit strange, the main role of sound is a little bit drowning with their environmental sound !!! But in movie and music concert videos, they are great man ! A little bit natural, the gap connections between your sattelite speakers, somehow have been replaced by the moving surround sound. I also somehow noticed the new sound of Bass in my woofer. 2) I also Install the driver overwriting the PAX A4 1.02 in my Audigy DE Firewire. For gaming I've found a big differences. The sound is more natural. Somehow If my ear weren't wrong this time, that you could feel the environment. Feels like you've drowned into the sound. The main sound object doesn't become the main role again but a little becoming the part of the sound environment itself. 3) Works great on Doom3 Ressurection of evil and original Doom3, also in Blood Rayne2. But problem with adventure game : Still Life. The game crash with a message. But hear the message Feel the horrifying environment !!! 4) But somehow it doesn't work without a price, our convinient access to the Audigy controls have been sacrificed The applications doesn't work. Thanks for the thread guys. See ya.. Best Regards, asfotn /Hasta Siempre !/ |
