You will never make from Audigy the X-FI. It's impossible. The drivers which people use are not the X-fi drivers, they are only updated Audigy drivers.

i have to agree with you about why wouldn't Creative post these to support other cards. But yeah i am thinking of giving these Version: 2.07.0003.2 a whirl once i get home from work.

Guess what on the linkpage at Station-Drivers they have messed up.
The two links have been swopped around. Hold the mousebutton over the filedownload and youll see what i mean (bottom one should be top etc).
Will try the other driver later!

I just tested both, and performance in BF2 seems the same in both, but the soundquality on creative-audigy-5.12.06.1161-win32-64-whql.exe is very tinny (just specifying filename since they got the links wrong). It sounds like every sound is played off a string instrument.

I am keeping creative-audigy-xfi-5.12.02.1143-2kxp-whql.exe installed for now. Hope PAX can modify these so that we get great gaming AND musicquality!

Uhhh, so if I install these drivers, the modded Audigy4 software SHOULD work ok, right?

EDIT
If I don't play BF2, is it actually worth installing these?

I use the A4 software with my A2ZS, so it should work yes.
I havent tried much with other stuff than BF2, so ill see later. I watched some DVDs last night though and they seemed very good.

Just thought I'd chime in.

Doom 3 still works great with EAX and Advanced HD and the 1.3 patch with these latest drivers.

@Widkidone
Also, nobody has claimed to turn their Audigy 1/2 into an X-Fi...hopefully by now you understand that Audigy 1 and Audigy 2 drivers were included in this for-X-Fi-only release.

Yup..total crying shame that those X-Fi cards are so blasted expensive.

I'm hoping an OEM version or something will be released sometime in the near future that will give at least all of the X-Fi functionality like the EAX5 and 3DAudio .. just without the pricey RAM or the bay slots that I don't need or want.

What is actually the benifit of using a4 drivers over a2 anyways in general? Isnt the soundquality different because of the A4s DACs?

(btw wikid. get another gig of ram. with your gfx card youll have max settings NO stutter )

Could someone help me install these? I have an Audigy 2 ZS and i downloaded and ran the setup.exe and the Driver Uilitily poped up. Do i pick driver installation and just go over my old sound drivers and do i check "Overwrite existing shared Creative audio driver files"?

AznAnarchy99 here you go!

First i would thank Talus from TotalBattlefield2 http://www.totalbf2.com/

This is simple:

Simply download the drivers from here:
http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP

Then use WinRAR or WinZip to decompress the contents of the file to a directory on your hard drive.
e.g. c:\temp\X-Fi Drivers

Right-click on My Computer and select 'Manage'.

In the left pane of the window the comes up, select 'Device Manager'.

Scroll down on the right to 'Sound, video and game Controllers'.

Look for the entry for your card.
e.g. Creative SB Audigy

Right-click the entry and select 'Update Driver...'

Check off 'No, not this time', and hit 'Next'.

Check off 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)', and hit 'Next'.

Check 'Don't Search.I will choose the driver to install', and hit 'Next'.

Hit 'Have Disk...'

Click 'Browse', and browse to this subfolder where you decompressed the file earlier:
e.g. C:\temp\X-Fi Drivers\SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_07_0003\Drivers\wdm

or

(From Talus) In my haste I failed to find another simple way of installing the drivers:

-go to the \Drivers\support\i386 subdirectory of the driver archive
-run ctzapxx.exe

Then click 'Open' and the rest should install by itself.

Reboot when the computer asks you to.

No its not that difficult Widkid
AznAnarchy just tick the option to overwrite driver files and install.
You should use the same tool to uninstall and tick the option to delete all creative shared files first though (and reboot) before installing.

thanks will do. I pretty much never touch anything but video drivers since there are rarely any new creative drivers

Edit. Got them installed. I noticed in BF2, EAX + High + Software works but EAX + High + Hardware doesnt?

Strange. I have been running with eax+high+hardware all the time with no problems, regardless of different drivers. Maybe try an uninstall and reinstall.

I have no idea. Guess they are more focused on getting the x-fi out than driverupdates for us atm.
Try them. I am very happy with them + many others too. Havent heard of any ppl with problems yet.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS.....The site has the top one listed as :

Drivers version 5.12.06.1161 pour audigy2/4/X-Fi sous Windows 2000/Xp, WHQL new

Drivers version 5.12.02.1143 pour Audigy2/4 sous Windows 2000/Xp 32/64bits, WHQl

When I hit download the titles come up backwards in the DL is says the 1161 is for 32/64 bt Windows and the 1141 is the other. Which one is it.

You want the 1st one you list for your ZS (Drivers version 5.12.06.1161 pour audigy2/4/X-Fi). The other one appears to work but it also installs a bunch of TSR's (check task manager) that are only applicable to the X-Fi.

I am currently using the 5.12.02.1143, since the 1161s soundquality was not as good for me.Also, the 1161 are based on a newer version (2.800) than the 2.700 that the x-fi drivers are based on.Either performed the same in BF2. I just removed the TSRs from startup from the registry that apply for the x-fi.Try the 1161 if you are not comfy with editing the registry.

I am currently using the modified A4 drivers on my A2ZS. It seems from the postings of this thread that this driver (X-Fi)you are talking about is more for people mainly into gaming. I am primary using for recording. Are there any advantage of using this driver?

I was using the YouP-PAX 2005 NewYear drivers and software on my A2zs, upgraded to the 1143's, and BF2 does sound and work better and noticed no negetives in CS:S. There is one problem that I ran into though, the EAX console and the EQ will not work any more. Anybody know what versions would work with this, and where I might find it, or am I better off going back to the A2 supplied software?
