So in your guy's opinion, which one is better:

1143 or the 1161s?

Will this work with the 1161 u think? I miss having the EQ and would hope this will fix the prob with my media source player. What are the risks involved also? Does this reinstall the whole driver over the top of the current or something?

Confused and dazed... just the way I was born:D

I stumbled apon this thread after looking desperately for the Audigy 2 ISO's ( I lost the install CD), I was wondering what the state of softmod is for the "Original" Audigy 2 (not the ZS).

I'm having trouble at the moment getting Speaker Calibrator to pump out sound to any speaker apart from Front-Left and Front-Right (maybe a config issue?) but I was wondering if its possible to just install the ZS driver version even though mine is the normal Audigy 2 Platinum and not Audigy 2 ZS Platinum...

Thanks.

Just install those drivers from station-drivers site. They are same to Audigy 2&4 and X-Fi.
You find link to the original Audigy 2 ISO @ http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=25677

INSTG8R, thanks man. Works great so far, trying out all my apps/ games now.
Very easy to do: just DevMangr, Update, point to WDM folder.
Great info all over in here, thanks everyone.

Compunoob: I have no idea how this method works.
I think it just overwrites the old driver w/o uninstalling.
---
EDIT: Getting Openal32.dll errors with SoFortuneII and D00M3.
[Updated from 1.84.55-R1: the latest except for the beta at Creative]

What version are you guys updating -from-?

EDIT#2:
Found my drivers, got them working.
Didn't like the 1161's [SBA4] but the 1143's [X-FI PLAT] are great!
Strong/clear sound and working great in all my apps and games so far.
Check the other thread and my post here.

Hey OAKsider, so you like em 1143's better huh? I've only tried the 1161s on my Audigy 2; maybe I'll give the other set a shot.

I'd love to hear from more people about their preferences(1143 or 1161)....

Normally bigger version number means newer one, but

- what if those .1161 drivers are WHQL certified (it takes quite long time to check if they match the certification rules : I suppose Microsoft makes this procedure) and

- is the number given the time WHQL-ed drivers are out

If latter is true, then would it bet possible to get "newer" drivers with lower version number?

BTW: .1161 drivers are available on Creative (UK) support too (Audigy 4 not the Pro version).

I have to disagree here

on my A2, these drivers sound just as flat as the regular ones.

I've got a pair of high-end SONY headphones MDR-CD3000, and the best drivers "sound quality-wise" I've tried(and I've tried all of them!!) are the "YouP-PAX-ZSv3.69g.exe"

they really kick the sh*t!!!

search for the filename I gave on this forum or google and you shall find them.

they softmod my A2 to A2ZS, and the sound quality is WAY WAY WAY better.

It's actually pointless for me to get a ZS, as I planned on earlier

I tried the modded A4 drivers on my A2 ZS and wasnt all that impressed I found the sounds very compressed and lacked dynamics( I tried all of Youp's 3 settings and none sounded better to me)I found the stock A2 drivers had better range and these updated drivers have even more volume and clarity again

yeah the A4 drivers didn't make it for me either.

the package I'm talking about is basically A2 ZS stock drivers soft modded for regular A2, with a massive sound quality improvement

I agree that the Youp 3.69g are the way to go for music yes. They are much better.
For games the latest driver-releases makes it impossible to go back without serious performance losses though. I hope youp can mod these latest ones ASAP

I'm afraid he quit modding drivers

and the NEWYEAR drivers crash on my box, due to the i865 chipset it seems, so I'm stuck with this set of drivers forever

I get 6000 points at 3dmark05, so I can live with the performance "loss" it implies over newer drivers, considering I use my PC to listen to CD and 24bit material everyday

Exactly what I had happen when I tried the A4s [1161]
and the XFIs [1143]. The A4s sounded weak or compressed like you said
but the XFIs were even better than the latest officials for my Audigy 2 ZS
found at Creative.

More info on the drivers at the 1162 thread.

any major improvement between the XFi 1161 and 1162 ?

'coz the 1161 didn't sound quite as good as the YouP 3.69g to me

I think it is fair to assume that once Creative have tested these drivers and are hapy with the stability these will be an official release for the entire Audigy range (These drivers also support the Audigy 1).

I recommend these drivers over the X-Fi drivers as these are newer and dedicated Audigy drivers which do not install X-Fi only memory resident .exe's on startup (which take up resources and are not used by our Audigy's at all)
The 1161s [and 1162s] are actually for the Audigy range of cards, not X-Fi [1143]. The 1162s are quite an update from the 1161s according to JohnZS at Creative Labs forums. They are also the newest drivers for any of the cards.

As for the sound, I really like them and they are on par with the 1143 [X-Fi Plat] but I recommend you try them both and decide then.

I have been testing the 1162 abit today, and so far i am very happy. They seem much better than the 1161, and sound is more relaxed and doesnt seem as strained.

oh well i don't see how 1162 could rock my world compared to 1161

I'll just stop looking for drivers update, the sound quality can't get any better than with the Youp 3.69g I guess
