Hi all,
This is my 1st post to this excellent forum! I have an Audigy SB0090 card on a MSI KT4A-v motherboard. I put the system together a few months ago after the death of my old board; however, I soon realised that the whole thing was running slow. I ran several bench marks & found that the Athalon +2600 was good, but the disk access was very poor. I stripped the system & found that it is in fact the Audigy that is dragging everything down. With the card removed the computer flys! With the Audigy card installed, MS Word takes 30secs to fire up; with the card removed it takes less than 1sec. Does anyone have an idea? Cheers Ogwain |

What slot on the mobo did you have your soundcard in? That slot may have been sharing an IRQ with something else causing the delay. Look in your manual to see what slot is best to avoid IRQ sharing. Probably slot 5.....
