well i didnt mean it that way ... i can change to 2 , 4 . 5.1 etc ..what i meant was when i play a stereo file (with speakers set to 5.1) in winamp or windows media player even some games it plays on all of my speakers cmss is off and all eax stuff and my stereo settings are normal

there should be no driver conflicts since i installed these on a clean format.

its like its stuck in cmss2 or stereo x2 ..just wondering it its just me

I have the same, but I think it's normal. You have set speakers to 5.1, if you truly want the real stereo just switch to 2 speakers.

yea but its hassle..it didnt do this in other drivers so it must just be a bug, it should only play stereo in 2ch even if its set to 5.1. cmss / prologic is for making it play on all 5.1..

well at least i know its not just me

@DjFluidz
Thanks man, seems like everything's working fine.
Can't seem to hear much difference, but then again, I don't play BF2 or Doom 3

I always have CMSS1 switched on( I only change to CMSS2 when I watch movies) probably that's why I didn't notice the difference between previous drivers . Sorry for not helping .

Is it correct that you have to delete a windows OpenAL driver or game OpenAL driver for it to use the Audigy driver installed one?

If so where do I remove from?

thanks

Hmmm I installed these drivers and everything worked fine. Then I unplugged my amp and went to a LAN (used headphones). Before that, 5.1 worked fine. Now I can't even select headphones or 5.1. I only have the choice of either 2.1 or 4.1. It's frustrating and I have no idea what started doing it??

**Update**: Well that was frustrating - firstly I uninstalled everything. Then I tried to install the 1162 drivers (original release) and it failed. Then I downloaded the BETA package from Creative (2.08) and it failed too. They both said they'd installed it, but device manager wouldn't work. So, I extracted the inf files manually and installed them myself. That worked, then I reinstalled the SB A4 iso (I have an A1) with the basic apps and it all works fine. I really have no idea what happened.

So, new problem now - SpkSet.exe crashes whenever I close it, but it still works with its functionality. Just wondering if anyone else has that problem?

Hmm I seemed to 'lose' some sounds in BF2. Rolled back to the last officials and they came back...

Download the audigy 2.08 (.1162) drivers if you havn't already done so and extract the file using winrar or other compatible extracter. If winrar's already installed, simply right click on the downloaded file and click on extract here. This will extract the archive into the folder you downloaded the .1162 drivers to. Now the inf file will be within the root of that folder, under the folders -

\Drivers\wdm

Right click on my computer on the desktop, then on Hardware, then on device manager. Open up the root box - Sound, video and game controllers, by clicking on the + sign, which will open up a list of components installed. Look for your sound card driver, for example, 'youpax' or 'Audigy 4'

Once you've located it, right click on it and select 'update driver'

On the first screen, tick 'no not this time', then click on 'next'. once you've done that click on 'install from a list or specific location', then click next again. Once you've passed that screen there will be two options, choose the latter which is 'Don't search. I will choose the driver to install' , make sure its selected and again click on next. Click on the 'Have Disk' tab, then browse, now you will need to locate the .inf file. Theres a few inf files within the \Drivers\wdmfolder, choose any of them, all of them will lead you to a succesful update. Once youve selected a .inf file, the name of the driver should appear, creative 2 zs. Follow the instructions (next, next ect) restart your machine.. Hey presto.
I just wanted to thank you guys...as this has made all the difference in the world for my BF2 experience! If you follow these instructions to the T as stated by Dj....all will work fine ...even you EQ and such. Once aagain ,great job guys
