You know what's interesting, looking at most of the soundcards available, they all say they include AC97 hardware codecs. That's weird.

Well, E-mu APS doesn't have AC97 codec, since it is musician-only card, and AC97 codecs have good preformerance for gaming and aren't expensive. So, that's not weird.

Hmmm.... hardware limitation or?
Because, for example, it should support:
Int24LSB
and some other samplerates

which brings us to the point that Audigy2 is still internally 16/48, and since ASIO is hardware thing, Audigy2 CAN'T support 24/96 without resampling, which is pointless with ASIO.
Check this out.

As of right now it the 96kHz record function will only be available in the
Audigy2 Platinum EX that is coming out in the 1st quarter of next year. I
understand that there were hardware changes required to enable this
functionality with ASIO2 in the Audigy 2 Platinum EX.

Maybe I was expecting this. Maybe.

Necrosis, have you done that running ASIO Caps thing on pro soundcard for comparison with Audigy2?

After all - who said that Audigy2 will support 24/96 ASIO?

Look at the Platinum box - there is very small logo that says ASIO 16/48 support or something like that.
