Audigy 2 ZS owners with 5.1, HL2 - TEST

JohnZS informed Creative Labs forums on the 4th about an issue with
the new beta drivers and the Audigy 2 ZS. He has simply asked that
people test and report back and is not getting mush feedback so thought
I'd send the news over here for a whirl. Maybe some new beta drivers
will come out of it all:

HOWEVER

They need as many people as possible to do this test (which I will explain in the minute) and report back on the forum (I will forward on your specs etc to the relevant people).

With any luck we might get an updated driver soon.

Right what I am looking for are Audigy 2 ZS owners, who have a 7.1 speaker system and have Half-Life 2 (or any source based games). You must have either the 2.05BETA drivers or the 2.08 BETA drivers installed.

I want you to report back to me if the following happens (or does not happen) and list your specs.

1. Do the in game speaker settings revert back to 2 speakers when the game has been loaded after a restart or powering up?

2. Do some of the sounds cut each other off (eg medkit sounds cut off by ambiance or pistol reload sounds cut short)?

3. Are you lacking reverb?

If so are all of those issues resolved in the last official WHQL driver (the .444's May the 12th driver)

Thanks for you time

Please could Audigy 2 ZS users who have 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 speaker setups also participate in this test.

I have been in contact with VALVe and they assure me that this is a Creative Driver problem as they found with driver versions prior to version 5.12.1.1100 this problem did not exist.

I have also been in contact with Creative Labs support and they are looking into this issue and have contacted the Driver team.

HOWEVER they said that the more reports I get of this issue the more chance there will be of us getting an updated driver.

They NEED system specifications people, as this issue could be caused by a specific piece of hardware.

My system is

Pentium 4 3.0c

2GB Corsair RAM

P4P800-SE

Inno3D 6800 GT 256MB

Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Platinum PRO + 7.1 surround sound speaker system.

Windows XP Professional with SP2
They've got a link to HERE over there.
Get to testin'!
