Audigy 2 EX or Audigy 1 EX
Hey Gang, First time poster, Long time reader,
I recently purchased a new PC which, for the price was a steal. Unfortunately it only has 2 bays. Both bays are currently occupied with a DVD and CDRW respectively. My old PC had been upgraded with a SB Audigy Platinum, but because of the drive limitation, I've only been able to install the card and not the live drive. I do need the SP/DIF inputs for digital studio work. I've seen that the Audigy Platinum can be picked up for a price of $169.99 at Amazon, which is pretty cheap, so I called Creative to find out about an Audigy 2 Platinum EX release. They stated that it would be in about a month. Should I buy the Audigy Platinum EX at that price and be happy, I never had any problems with the the internal drive version, or would I benefit from waiting for the Audigy 2 EX? I would like to get this done, but if the wait is worth the difference, I can put off some projects. Thanks for your insight, Nqstv |

Freedom is a feature.

I would wait for Audigy2 Platinum eX.
It has much better AC97 codecs, DACs and ADCs than Audigy, and I am not sure about the price difference, but I would wait and see.

Thanks Riv@nVX, now that I've been reading up, it looks like there's going to be a substantial difference between the two (Stable drivers, ASIO, AC97,...etc). I hate the thought of waiting though
By the way, does the name have anything to do with Eddings? Or is it the Vid card from days gone by? Nqstv |
