Do these Live/Audigy/2 diver hacks also apply to Win98SE?
Title says it all, really, a lot of the updates say "Win2000/Xp only" - latest update marked for 98 seems to be VXD drivers!

Jup
Win98SE is able to handle WDM-Drivers (but VXD-Drivers seem to work more stable for me)

Yes they do.
I know the first release for Audigy 2 does support Win9x. However, I'm not 100% sure about the .323 drivers. Praynz is definitely correct about the VXD drivers in Win98. I suggest using those as well. |

And then I discovered multiplex!
Though, to be honest, there are few times when you'd deliberately use the multiplex feature of WDM drivers. Lets say, you have a speaking clock program, and are playing a video clip with audio when it tries to speak... VXD drivers = ERROR - the device is busy WDM drivers = No problem I've even played two clips at the same time, and heard sound from both - perfectly mixed! Now that's just crazy! A friend did have trouble (with a cheap Crystal soundcard) - could NOT load the "Win98" WDM driver, but the "Win95" VXD one worked fine. |
