Using an Audigy 2 ZS to decode 5.1 Toslink?

I have 5.1 analog speakers, and I'd like a cheap way to get 5.1 sound from my Xbox. Since I have an Audigy 2 ZS, I figured there might be a way to connect the Toslink out from my xbox to my soundcard and have it decode the 5.1 stream and output it over my speakers. Will this adapter do the trick: http://www.rush2112.net/Toslink_Adaptor.htm?

I've read stuff about Audigy's only being able to output 2.1 Dobly Digital; are they similarly restricted on decoding Dobly Digital input streams? Or should everything work smoothly and I'll get surround sound when playing Xbox games?
