I have a little problem that I hope has an easy solution.
Specs: Windows XP SP1 w/all latest updates AMD Athlon XP 1.49 GHz 512 Mb ram Here's the problem. The sound completely stopped working so I thought the onboard sound chips might be fried, and so I bought SB Live, I did the disabling of the onboard sound ritual so as to not have any conflicts. It didn't work even though everything pointed to the sound card and drivers all working properly, but no device showed in the "Sounds and Device Properties". I learned that SB Live must have SP2 installed in order for it to work. SP2 screws up some of my Apps. So I found SB Audigy 2 Value which is suppose to work with SP1. Still everything points to the card and drivers working properly, but no audio device in the device properties. The Creative Techs could only reiterate to me solutions that I had already tried. Somebody in the Creative forum directed me here. So here I am seeking help to this problem. It has been suggested that after downloading the latest and greatest driver I can force a manual install, but I haven't figured out how to make that happen yet. Any suggestion folks? And please don't be shy, hit me over the head with the Stupid Bat if I am missing the obvious. Vondo333 |
