Best sound quality with Audigy LS

hi everyone,

Im wondering how do I get the best sound quailty and also whats best for games with surround sound from my Audigy LS card.

As stated I have a Audigy LS 24 bit sound card and I have a 5.1 dolby digital surround sound speaker system which does pro logic and standard stereo too.

Currently I have a adapter into my green output which has a two plug phono lead into the adapter and then that is connected to the phonos left and right in my Surround Speaker system.

My surround sound system also has optical, coaxial and phono inputs, my sound card doesnt have a standard optical port but it has a optical output but its jack plug in style.

Im very confused by a lot of infomation I have read on the net and I would grately appricate any information and guidance.

Many Thanks!

use the jack style optical plug, you can buy such cables at most electronic stores, they're used for MD recorders

but you will only get stereo sound from that connection

I already have a optical cable with a jack style plug adapter for it. I have plugged this in my soundcard and into the optical in my speaker system but I get no sound.

I have used a DVD player pluged into the optical of my speaker system and it worked fine.

Anyone with any answers?

many thanks to all!

with you soundcard drivers, you'll need to activate the "digital output" mode

i don't know how to do that on creative software

I already have and have tried that with no joy

Getting a bit fed up of creative cards really cant wait for my new HDA Digital X-Mystique 7.1 Gold card to arrive.

Can finally have Dolby Digital 5.1 for real going to my speaker system

for now i'd suggest u tweak with the treble /bass settings on the volume control panel. Also go to the EAX control panel and enable the vocal or acoustic preset udner advanced EQ options. This will make the sound a lot less flat than the default settings.. try it.. u'll like it.. There's other ways you can tweak your audigy 2 to sound way better without even upgrading, but i'll get into further detail later.

careful though.. enabling the eax advanced EQ settings will cause eax reliant games such as world of warcraft, etc to not play back sound, the solution to this is to disable the eax advanced hq preset if u are playing it..
