Speakers giving out hissing noise
So my speakers have been giving out this bearly hearable hissing noise the last 2 years (this must be something with my sound card(s) or electricity) it makes me have headaches and is annoying when playing games (then it amplifies and turns into a huge ripplingish effect).
To hear it better i turned up the volume on my amp and the sound changed when i clicken on stuff or just changed by itself. My main sound card is a Hercules Game Theater XP 7.1 and my secondary card on which i tried it too is an integrated AC'97 chip (MSI K8N Neo2 Plat.) How can I remove this noise (it doesn't happen when i listen to any other source connected to my amp or other speakers, i've got a 6.1 speaker system)? And what would be a good new sound card to get (with coax in and possibly with an external box)?

Definately not speakers, they're all different and yea tried w/headphones, it's even worse
(the front speakers cost like 1200 each so it's definately not them, and they're the ones that you can hear the sound clearest on). I tried switching over to my dvd and absolutely no hissing, only the sound that's meant to come out. Any other suggestions?

sounds to me like you're amplifying a very low signal
increase the volume of the soundcard to maximum, but make sure you turn your amp down before this EDIT: after reading your post about the DVD is the DVD played by the computer or not? if not my original message still stands

Tried playin the dvd by comp and by my dvd player, comp still makes the slight hissing noise. Turning down the vol on my amp and turning it up on my comp makes the sound near inaudible but it's still there. The problem with this is when i'll have a party (or watching a film) the comp amplification isn't enough so i need to turn my 2 amps up, which makes the hissing audible again.
My speakers are well connected, i tried connecting them by both rca and 3.5mm jack, same result. Could it be a problem with too much stuff being plugged into the same power socket?

UPSs rock - especially for things like this. This may or may not be relevent but keep any power cables well away from those that carry the sound to your speakers.

Just an idea, try lowering your main volume slider within the windows volume controls and highering the wave slider. On my system, if i have the vol slider any more than half way up i get a hissing noise, drop the slider and the hissing may disappear.
