What is the best hardware for converting LP to CD?
Hello all, merry xmas and all that malarkey.
I'm wondering what is the best hardware to convert my old vinyl (and tapes too ideally) onto CD. I found a couple of things that looked great but the websites have stopped selling them now and I can't remember their names, and as such searching the net is quite hard when there isn't really a general hardware name for stuff. I've found the Phono Pre-amp Studio USB but it goes on about a preamp and the vinyl player i have access to is basically a hifi system, so the vinyl player itself is part of a large whole. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance as always! Alex

cheers for the replies, they look the most in depth on the subject i've seen so far (i'm at work so i'll have to view them more at leisure at home). I was more hoping for something simple along the lines of plug and play (!) but to be honest it looks like it might be easier in the long run to do it this way.
cheers!

well my method atm is to use an old turntable with a nice cartridge hooked up to a stereo, which strangely has an spdif optical output, so i can record from that
then i run a few anti pop/click/noise processes in soundforge EDIT: a friend of mine actually got me to set up his system to record vinyl, it was pretty much taking the line output from the turntable's amplifier and hooking it to the front of his live! drive, and setting up the driver. (Of course i converted him to kX )
