Soundcard on PCI slot 3 Help
Hi I posted earlier about problems i was getting with my X-Fi Xtreme Music soundcard having low to no sound when volume was turned all the way up... So i dig a lilttle searching around and i found out the card itself is set on PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 3, device 9, function 0).. but i only have one PCI slot and one PCI x16 slot for my videocard.. so if anyone can help it would be very helpful..thanks

On checking creative labs site I found that one of the requirements for the extreme music is to have a PC 2.1 slot. I don't know how old is your MB but the newere ones should be able to take them. I was considering this card and I have a MB which is about a two years old Asus p5gd2 I am having second thoughts. Please post you comments about this card so I can decided. Or PM me at purush@rogers.com
Thanks, Peter |

My motherboard is over 3 years old and I had no problems with my X-FI Card; can you swap your sound card with another pci card in another slot and see what happens.
I had problems because my Boston Lab 5.1 speakers had a pink plug and I did not align the others , black, orange, green in the right order in the back of card so I got zero sound.....I got the order correct and do not use the pink(believe it is for a microphone. (My Audigy 2Zs used all the plugs go figure) Good luck
